picky eaters costing too much - Page 3

I'm sure there are some children who have legitimate reasons for being picky, I just don't have any experience with that. I was referring to the children (I.E. my friend" kids who eat yogurt and juice all day, and then won't eat dinner....) who are just kind of allowed to be picky. So perhaps a gross generalization

DM, I had to laugh about your dd in Ethippia. I pulled that example out of my butt, obviously no< i've never had any experience, just wanted to encourage the op to keep going!

If my children won't eat it, they don't get anything else until it's gone. Generally we were talking 1-2 spears of broccoli. This is not unreasonable, and to be honest, they've almost never held out for a whole meal. When they realize everyone else is eating and talking, they always have given in and eaten said food before the meal was over. Once or twice they've opted out of the meal, but then within an hour or 2 they are hungry and will eat whatever. So my children are obviously not the type that would just not eat, and therefore starvation has not been an issue I do think this would work for the majority of children and cure a lot of food issues. I realize there are some that it won't work for.

I wish two of my kids were like that. I have two that eat like champs. No issues whatsoever. Yesterday, we were told if my 8 year old does not gain weight in the next two weeks he is going on a feeding tube. We are to feed him whatever he wants as long as its high calorie and not to worry if it is not healthy. I get right now we are crisis mode...but is there ever going to be a time he will eat healthy foods?
