AAhhhhhh! Frustrated!!!

Thread Starter
I got all ambitious and went out and bought my second "learn to knit" kit....I got one when I was pregnant and never got it to work, couldn't find the needles, so I bought another kit and two skeins of yarn. First a softer one that I couldn't see my stitches with and went out and got a nice white skein so I could see what I was doing. (thinking that would help)

I can't even get the *#%@#*!@! cast on right! Between my own ineptness and two little hands that think the yarn is to play with and runs off with my instruction book, this is REALLY frustrating!

I will have to see if there are knitting classes around here or something.

I think I am making this too hard, I don't know. I really want to be able to do this.

Maybe I will get to soakers by the time I have grandchildren...lol.

I just needed to vent.

I'm with you, Jennifer!

I bought a kit at Michael's a few weekends ago and gave up after about half and hour. :

I had all these fantasies about knitting my own soakers, but I seriously think that the learning process makes my blood pressure rise too much!

I can crochet fairly well, so I was dumb enough to think that knitting would be a breeze.

Hats off to all the knitters out there, I don't know how you do it!!!

I'm sorry, but those kits suck. I couldn't learn with them. I'm a hands-on visual learner, so I need to see someone doing it in order for me to "get it". I took a knitting class at a local yarn shop. The project was a baby sweater. It was a lot of fun. If your yarn shop doesn't have classes, the ladies there are usually very helpful and will teach you right then and there.

casting on is the hardest thing to figure out

if you can see it done, it makes sense but otherwise its kinda trickly to explain

maybe try going to a local bookstore and reading thru some instruction books

otherwise i'm sure a local yarn/knit shop could help

I agree, casting on was the trickiest to learn.

I taught myself to knit from a 'how-to' book. It took me hours to get past the slip knot! You are so not alone, sister!

I also recommend going to a yarn shoppe, or have someone you know who knits show you the ropes. I've heard it's a lot easier to learn when you have someone to show you how!
