Do you have a membership? What was your experience?
Do you think it was worth it?

I've always wondered if it was somesort of scam-are the prices as good as the commercials suggest?
TIA

i don't know but my husband got an "invite" in the mail. you HAVE to bring your spouse to the "meeting" and kids under 12 are NOT allowed to the meeting. how practical is that when you're 2 hours out of town and 3 of your kids are under 12. so that's my limited experience with them. we didn't show up to the meeting cuz dh was at work, and i personally wouldn't have gone anyway. which means he couldn't have gone cuz you have to bring your spouse

From what I have heard, big scam.

I'm curious too. We got one of the free invites in the mail - didn't realize you couldn't bring kids under 12: Is it a fee to join?

My dh and I tried to look into things. We did get an appointement but they had to mysteriously cancel it. I worked at Home Depot at the time. I honestly think this is why it was canceled, the lady's demenor change greating after asking questions when I said I worked at Home Depot. The information I could get were not direct answers. Their web site wont even tell you about membership fees, which are thousands of dollars.

There are a lot of negative reviews about direct buy on line.

My ILs have a DirectBuy membership and they love it. They bought a new home about 2.5 yrs ago and have used DirectBuy to purchase appliances and furniture for their home.

I personally would never get it! I've been to their showroom and looked through their catalogues with my MIL. We thought about buying a swingset through them but with delivery I could buy something similar here in town at the same or a cheaper price. To be honest unless you will buy purchasing very expensive products you don't save very much money. I think you would have to be many expensive products to even come out even.

In the long run I don't think it is worth it unless you are building a house, then maybe.

If you're about to do a high-end kitchen remodel or something, it can be worth it. Otherwise, definitely not -- the entry fee is enormous and the products are very expensive even with markdown, because it's all designer stuff. I know some people who joined just to save money on their insanely tricked-out kitchen and were happy with that, but others have been burned. And the sales presentation you go to in the beginning is super high-pressure.
