TANF - what do you know about it?

They want me to get a one time $1000 Tanf payment since I lost my job from this darn thyroid issue I've been fighting. I could use the $$$$ but don't 100% need it.

I've avoided TANF like the plague becuase it has so many strings {parenting classes, work requirements, CHOICES, Vax issues, etc} - does the one time TANF have all these too?

I'm in WA so the laws may be different in TX, but my experience was that a one-time lump payment was actually not TANF, but what they called a "diversion grant" to help you stay off TANF. And it came with no strings attached such as work requirements and didn't affect my Basic Food benefit amount like TANF would.
