Need Meals for when the baby comes!

I need a months worth of meals for when our new arrival comes.

I plan on buying a couple of turkeys when they are cheap around Thanksgiving.

How much cheaper ARE they at thanksgiving?

Actually, I could easily eat thanksgiving leftovers for an entire month.

How do you plan a whole month of meals to freeze?

i'd suggest initially if you precook your turkeys/chickens/whatever, you can then take the cooked meat, debone it and freeze it in individual meal sizes (whatever your family uses at one time so that will be varying). Then in those frozen setups - some dice, some leave whole, etc. Then all you'll need to do is grab a bagful and use it as a base. You can make many a one pot meal in under 20 minutes if the meat is precooked. This will also keep lots of space for you in freezer, esp if you're not blessed wtih a chest freezer.

i like to precook several pounds of ground beef all day in a crockpot with onion, garlic, green pepper, then drain it, and freeze in 3/4-1lb packages. makes for FAST stovetop meals when i'm tired and don't wanna cook 'for real'. - taco base anyone? it's a pinch to add seasonings for tacos, and other 'fast' meals. esp if you keep your regular staples in house - canned veggies - like tomatoes, corn, green beans, etc. pasta/rice cooked on side.

it's also a great base that way for casseroles and future crockpot meals.

We bought a freezer last year before ds #2 was born. I didn't have any great plan, just froze what i knew we all would eat & would be easy to reheat. These are some of the things i froze
Pesto sauce
Homemade tomato sauce
meatballs
gravy
cheese blintzes
pierogies (i bought them in bulk, i have no idea how to make them)
spinach cheese squares (in jane brody cookbook)
chicken soup
cream of tomato soup
lasagne
pork & sauerkraut
And I was fortunate enough to have my mother gift us food, thanksgiving turkey & potatoes, lasagne

Any family/friends offer to feed your freezer? take them up on it if they did.
I knew someone who requested in lieu of baby gifts to bring food when visiting, another idea...

Hey, see the feed the freezer thread, should be right on the first page (or near the top on the second!), and has TONS of great recipes.
