today i talked to 2 pregnant women in the bookstore, and we were discussing the merits of various pg books, etc. and the first-time mom asked me about Babywise. i didn't say anything at first just kind of looked at her while she told me how all her friends used it and really liked it and it got the babies to sleep. and i said, "yeah, i know who he is." and then i just told her how the AAP had issued a statement warning parents about Babywise and scheduled feedings and the whole FTT thing. and she was like "Oh. i hadn't heard that."
so she ended up not buying it, at least not today, and she bought dr. sears' pregnancy book based on my recommendation. i think she'll be in for some surprises, since she was already talking about getting her epidural, and how women who don't get drugs are stupid, and why would anyone want to have their baby in water! heehee.
i also recommended "so that's what they're for" to her as her nursing book, and her friend told her that she had that one and would loan it to her!
so i was feeling pretty good there. maybe i planted some seeds in her mind about scheduled feedings, and maybe the books will help her seek out more information on birth.
i love bookstores!
