Fabric Care Question

Hi ladies!

I just picked up some microfleece to make a poncho for DD. I haven't worked with this fabric before. The care guide on the receipt said hand-wash only. That seems a bit : to me since I thought microfleece was supposed to be an 'easy-care' fabric!

Is it okay to put it in the washer? What about the dryer? Do I need to prewash microfleece?

I tried googling but amusingly, I only got sites about care and cleaning of cloth diapers (often with microfleece inserts... )

What's the fiber content? Is there anything added to the fabric (glittery bits, etc)?

Sometimes there are washing instructions added to protect sequins, etc. added onto the fabric - I know that's the case with a glittery poly satin I picked up for DD's Halloween costume.

I don't know the fiber content. It was an end piece so I didn't have the bolt to look at, and didn't think to ask.

There are no sequins or anything. It's just a "natural" solid colour.

I machine wash and dry my microfleece all the time. And I don't prewash it.The only thing I have ever run into is pilling.
