What visual materials do you use in your classes? including videos/dvd's, models ect.
where do you like to get them?
do you include pictures in your handouts?

I use so many visuals that I couldn't even begin to explain all of them. Some of what I use includes - powerpoint presentations, pelvis and baby, various posters, dilation and effacement visual, amniohook, epidural sample kit, a bag full of labor support items, a vagina that I created using a needlepoint hoop and pink fabric, a handout that shows labor positions.....there is so much more that I use. I believe that visuals are very important to really get the point across. Studies have shown that the more ways something is presented the easier it is for people to remember - seeing, feeling, hearing, and doing all help to really reaffirm what they are learning and for further recall later on.

I make all my own handouts. I'm a bit of a control freak that way.

I use a cloth pelvis and baby, knitted uterus and cloth placenta/cord. I use posters and pictures and videos and labor stations.

It's really hard to describe everything. Are you just starting out? If so, attend classes and see what others are doing. I agree with the PP that there are just so many things that I do in class, it would take me a while to catalogue it all.

Thanks for the answers. I dont have anything available locally. There are no CBE's that hold regular classes. Most travel over *if* they come here from about 2 hours away.

I really like the idea of a knitted uterus and placenta/cord. I plan on teaching the local teen population so I really want to make everything really stand out and be memorable.

Where do you locate all the things you do use? I have done google searches but nothing is helpful.
