Would you take this job...

I have the opportunity to take on a newspaper delivery route... It's only on Sunday mornings, and it pays $35... which would pretty much pay for me to keep my gas tank full and not much else. Every little bit helps though right??

I would, especially if it's before DH or my boys wake up and I could make it home before they did. A tank of gas is a tank of gas is a tank of gas. Plus, that seems like a great way for a little time to yourself early in the morning.

I'm a single mom. The kids would come along for the ride.

I don't know your situation. Maybe try it out and if it doesn't work out then, move on? How long is the route? How long should it take to drive it? What time in the morning would you have to be delivering papers? Are they taking taxes out of your pay?

I wouldn't take it. Anything at 5 or 6 am on Sunday, in the winter, that pays less than $35 AN HOUR wouldn't be worth my time.

I wouldn't. We used to have such bad luck with *getting* our newspaper that the paper encouraged the delivery woman to call us. She cried. She sounded so stressed out. And then she quit.

For a pittance, it totally didn't sound worth it.

In that case, no. That's too early to drag your kids out. Especially in the winter.

No way. I agree about taking the kids out early in the winter and having people complaining to you if they have issues with delivery.

Would you have to deal with collecting payments, too? If so, then it's WAY more hassle than it's worth.
i wouldnt, especially if its a big or rural area, because eah, theyd give you enough to keep the gas tank filled, but umm...how much is used in this? is it enough just to do your deliveries?

I did this for some extra money a few years ago and I ended up making next to nothing once I subtracted my gasoline expenses.

I wouldn't. Then again, I couldn't even if I wanted to, because DH works nights and doesn't even get home until 7am - we only have one car, and he doesn't always have weekends off, so it just wouldn't be feasible for me. In your case, I wouldn't want to be dragging the kids out, especially now that it's getting cold.

No, not for that amount of money, at that time.

Is that including tips? If not, do you have any idea how much tips might be? How much time would it take? Might it become an opportunity to deliver daily, for some much better amount of money? Because honestly, it's it's $35 for an hour's work, that's good pay. If you get another $10 in pay, that's pretty good for a no-skill-required sort of job.
