Also looking for cloth menstrual pads, the more affordable the better. Flipped through hyenacart but everything was $13+ ... anyone know of any under $10 each?

I love vaj pads an punkys pads. (vajpads.com, and punky's is on etsy). They're both fairly cheap have choices of adorable prints, and have an option of pul( no leaks =) But if you don't like pul they also offer pads without it. Also look here http://clothpadreviews.makeforum.org...c1cb44ae1b84a4 This is a review list of all the cloth pad makers. Hope I helped!

Mother and Maiden are the ones you are thinking of. I got them for postpartum through a coop and I love them.

I got mine from newmoonpads.com (same wahm who has sweetcheeks diapers). I really like her pads. They are backed with fleece so they don't slip around and they don't leak, yet they are still breathable. I have never leaked through one. If you buy from the bolt-end sale they are very affordable. I believe she has a sale going on now.

LunaPads, definitely.
I tried several other brands, and I loved the Lunas.

I really like TLC Pads two-part style. They're only $5-$8 each. The leakproof layer is nylon, which is very thin and backed with another layer of flannel so the pad doesn't slide much. (They do slide a little, esp. if you do a lot of walking and/or don't wear really tight clothes. Measure your favorite disposable pad and buy cloth pads a little bit longer.) The insert unfolds to a single layer, so it gets nice and clean, and it dries fast. No scratchy seams. I love her pantiliners too!

Like lactationlady...

...I like the New Moon pads from Sweet Cheeks diapers too. They are reasonabley priced, and I find I prefer an all in one type pad. The length of them looks intimidating (the ones for heavy flow are 4" wide and 12" long, but they conform to your shape so well that you don't even feel them. I used Lunapads for a while, and still use thier pantiliners, but they are a fair bit shorter, and with layering the liners on I was feeling bulk along the edges of the pad in all the wrong places, and didn't care for them because of this.

I have had no leaks. If you change your pad as often as a disposable, you would be fine I think. She uses a sort of sherpa type fleece on the back of her pad. I tried rinsing one and the moisture spreads well along the surface of the pad and just does not come through the back at all. If the pad was COMPLETELY saturated, and you sat on it, the moisture would compress through the fleece (I remember that from my cloth diaper days with my kiddos and fleece covers!), but I am sure most of us would change it before it got to that point.

I have had a tiny bit of staining on the sides of the ones I have without wings, but never has it go on my clothes. And, the fleece really does keep the pad from slipping, esp. if you wear good SNUG underwear.

Hope this helps. I have just completed 2 cycles now using just Renee's pads and no Divacup (due to major irritation/yeast infection problems) and used to be a major tampon gal, but I am so happy with them and being irritation free that I am going to stick to pads only from now on!

Starbunz cloth pads are the best I've ever used, and I've tried a dozen different types if I've tried one! Easy to wash, keep their shape nicely (some just wad up). NEVER a leak and SO absorbent!

I made the switch recently and am NEVER going back to disposable pads. I ordered the Fresh Moon pads from Punkin Butt--I prefer the two-piece style with the pad that snaps onto a fleece or wool backing. Very comfy, and they're on sale right now. I haven't had any leakage problems at all. HTH!

You do bleed less, because all the chemicals in tampons and sposie pads, cause more bleeding then normal.
Tampons also leave rayon fibers behind when pulled out. Not a good thing.
It messes with your natural chemistry down there.

Mimi's Dreams are amazing! She has a started package for $25 bucks and sometimes you can catch coupon codes for 20% off at her LJ community. You get I think 7-8 pads in the package. She has loads of prints and she's a really great mama to work with! I've bought almost all my pads from her! I think all sizes up to overnight are less than $10 each. The small ones being somewhere around $3.

www.saucytots.com or mimisdreams.etsy.com for her in stock stuff. I think theres a Hunt09 code available right now that gets you 15% off her saucytots site.

EffiethePixie on Etsy makes my favorites! Her shop is not always representative of what she makes, so look at her feedback to get a better idea. Her prices are great, her shipping is great, the pads are fabulous. And I definitely say she under-rates the absorbancy. For instance, she says her 10" pads are good for medium flow but they're better than that. I have a stash of around a dozen pads now and will get a few more. Plus I have more than a dozen of her panty liners. She's done custom orders for me, including cloth wipes for going pee (not quite ready for #2 wipes). I love her! HTH!
