I just got my September issue (didn't cancel yet, wanted to see if they redeemed themselves) and I can't find a letters to the editor section. Has anyone found it? I really don't want to page through the whole issue, because I am still mad at them and I don't want to read their magazine until I see a fair, intelligent response to their August malarkey. I have a feeling I will never read it.

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I don't know about RS, but my other mags take more are usually 2+ months behind on their letters to the editor. Is it possible that the discussion going on now may be from the July or June magazine?

otbonmom-
I did the exact same thing as you! I couldn't wait to get my September issue in the mail just to read reader's responses to their breastfeeding remarks in the last issue. I went through the magazine page by page and just couldn't find it! Then I looked through some of my back issues and realized that they don't print letters to the editors in any of them. I was really dissapointed- I'd been hoping to see a flood of responses...

The fact that they don't publish their letters to the editor does much to discredit their "expert" status on any topic, IMO. I am cancelling my subscription and relegating them to "worse than fluff" to be read at the library, maybe. But not taken out, so their circulation rates are low in my library system. An editorial staff that alters itself in response to its readership provides good reading and responsible journalism. If they don't publish criticism how can they be credible? I am limiting my magazine reading to either specialist publications like Mothering and Taste of Home Cooking and LLL New Beginnings or fluff that regards itself as fluff and sticks to light domesticities (i.e. Family Circle). Can you tell that I accidentally perused a recent issue of Parents this evening...such parenting bunk! Boy, am I rambling...time to collect my sleeping children and climb into bed.
