I was soooo tired today. I really have to start making all my coffee at home again. Why does the coffee I buy taste so much better?

Nov 1st: spent $138 on groceries today. Would have been less, but I bought a chicken pot pie from Costco. The sign said $3-something.
Apparently that was per lb.:
The freakin thing cost $17!!

I'm doing the same thing I did for October's challenge -- writing down EVERYTHING I spend, even if it's necessary. This really helps to hold me accountable...no sliding down the slippery slope of just putting a "want" under grocery or in some other category it shouldn't be in.

I have been stalking the last two months of this thread and I am finally ready to commit and join in!

1. My name is Jess and I am a SAHM of a two year old DD and I have a baby boy on the way.

2. I have decided that I desperately need to track my misc. spending. When I total it up at the end of the month I am always shocked at how much money I've blown on silly things. I also am a SAHM and I am determined to seriously start putting money into my ROTH IRA monthly to protect myself with a long-term savings vehicle. We do not currently have any debt other than our mortgage (no cc, car payments, student loans, etc.) so this is a good time to really focus on saving as much as I can.

3. Goals:

-Spend no more than $20 per week on misc. things.

-Utilize the library and other free sources of education and entertainment for my DD.

-Plan ahead for craft and baking projects so I don't blow a lot of money on a last minute idea

-Meal plan instead of waiting until the last minute so I can save money and utilize leftovers in subsequent meals, our food spending is out of control

-Cancel Netflix (we just don't use it enough to justify the $15 montly fee)

-Switch my email to a free account and close the one I am paying $30 monthly for

-Set up a real, visual budget on Excel and track spending daily instead of totaling it up at the end of the month.

And I had a job interview which went really well and I have a 2nd interview on Saturday!! Also, I think I found a doula who will attend my birth for free!!!! I am so very excited I am meeting with her tomorrow!!

Nov 1: Starbucks 6.99. DH pulled $20 in cash. Drove 50 miles roundtrip to visit a friend.

Ok, so November isn't off to a great start. :

I was thinking of going to Target tomorrow to check out sales on Halloween costumes. This year I spent WAAAY too much on 1, next year I have 3 to buy for. Dunno what to do.

I'm pretty sure that having an injury prevented spending today! I woke up unable to move, with deep, sharp sciatic pain (I have chronic sciatic pain, but only occasionally is it so debilitating.) DH took the day off to watch DS while we waited for my chiropractor to see me, nad has been very helpful this afternoon while I have been on ice. I should have been at school, and hadn't packed lunch (great planning for day 1, huh?) I'm seeing the chiropractor again tomorrow, so will have planned spending for that.

Today STARTED well...

I remembered that I had told a friend that I'd split shipping with her on some diaper covers...they're not anything I need right away and can look for more Compact-friendly ones in the meantime, so I emailed her to call it off.

My aunt starts work on Monday so I suggested we meet for coffee...at her house or mine.

Then...ended up at the birthing centre for a non-stress test and found out my blood pressure is going up, which kind of worries and depresses me, so DH took us out for dinner. Bad for the wallet, but I insisted we at least be somewhat Compact-friendly and eat at a locally-owned restaurant, which, BTW, has amazing food.

Good start to the day, bad ending.
