screenname: Kidzaplenty ~ Very appropriate I think!
real name: Jenny ~ like a huge percentage of the board
#pregnancy for you: #9
EDD: July 24
where you plan to birth: Homebirth all the way ~ After eight previous homebirths, I don't think I will be changing my plans now!
other children/birth stats:

  2. Jessica-13 ~ Homebirth at 40+wks, 7lb 7oz after 4 hrs labor

  7. Gideon-3 ~ Homebirth at 40.5+wks, 9lb 8oz after 5.5 hrs labor
  8. Zephaniah-born still 6/25/06 at 18 wks
other stuff I'm missing?: Let me see. I am a 37yo SAHM of six homeschoolers. Christian Quiverfuller. Love to read Christian Fiction and have over 1,000 titles in my personal library. Currently am writing my second Christian Novel (have not had the first published yet, but working on that).

I love children and am grateful for every single unique one that I am blessed with (Note, they are NOT notches on my belt). I lost my first "born-still" child last year at 18 weeks. I lost my 4 year old daughter five months later, due to brain damage from a previous near drowning.

I have had all my previous children at home and intend on having any future children at home as well.

I have been married to the love of my life for over 18 years now and plan to be married for another 50+.

Hello from a new member

Screenname SeekingSerenity

Real name Angie

#Pregnancy for you 7

EDD July 3.

Where you plan to birth Birth Center or home, depending on where that is

Other children/birth stats Stephanie (2/13/95) Hospital birth, 31 hours w/ epidural... Alexander (7/8/97) Hospital birth, 7 hours, w/ induction and failed epidural... Kimberly (10/27/98) Hospital birth, 27 hours, w/ failed induction and failed epidural - I gave up on the hospital at this point... one early-term miscarriage in October 2000... Thomas (3/25/03) Birth Center birth, 16 hours with midwife... Gabriella (9/19/05) Homebirth, 105 hours - you read that correctly - with every known herbal labor stimulant and midwife + best friend's support...

Other stuff I'm missing? Wow, where do I start? I've been a member of Mothering for some time, but haven't really been active. My best friend has been a member on here for years, and introduced me to it. Unfortunately, I have not been able to be in touch with her for many months due to the interference of my abusive husband. He and I were separated last year, and I was tricked into going back to him (I accept responsibility for that), and as a result there has been too many unresolved issues between my friend and I. Anyway, I have gone back to work outside the home, and was hoping to gain enough independence to break myself and my two children I have with this man free of the destructive relationship... then a few days ago I learned that, despite my efforts to keep him at arm's length, my weakness of about six weeks ago has resulted in yet another pregnancy. So, now, as we are preparing to move our 4-person family into a cramped, 2 room apartment (2 rooms, not 2 bedrooms) due to financial issues, I am searching for a second job while the controlling husband does not work at all.

But I don't mean to complain. Mostly I hope to find friendly interaction and support here, not so much sympathy or anything like that. I'd like to be able to take my mind off the negative aspects of the situation and concentrate on the very real positive points... It's important to stay focused on that which is beneficial and good. I look forward to participating, though I will only be able to do so while at work. Blessings to all... I am glad to be here, hopefully amongst friends.

#pregnancy for you: 3 (one miscarriage, one beautiful healthy DS)

EDD (or due month if you don't want an exact date): July 13, 2008

where you plan to birth: Hospital VBAC

other children/birth stats: Colwyn, born Feb. 11, 2007 by emergency C-section.
Miscarriage 2003 followed by almost 3 years of infertility. Apparently that is not a problem anymore!

other stuff I'm missing?: I'm hoping to get as much info as possible about VBAC. I would love to have 4 children but I do not want to go through any more C-sections! I hope there won't be complications because I got pregnant so quickly. I will be looking into my options for midwife, doula, and other support. I will continue breastfeeding as long as I can.

I have been doing quite a bit of lurking around this site, and hopefully I can do a little more contributing...! Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories!

I"ve been putting off officially jumping in, but I guess it's about time!

screenname: Awaken
real name: Mary
#pregnancy for you: 4th (2 boys and one blighted ovum)
EDD: 7/27
where you plan to birth: At home
other children/birth stats: Dec. 2002, my almost 5 yr old was born at a freestanding birth center, 45 mins after we got there, it was much more manageable than I expected (my main goal was to see if I could get through it without begging to go the the hospital for an epidural, and it never got anywhere near that). He was 5.5# and 36 weeks, and it was the most amazing day of my life.

Nov. 2005 my now 2 yo was born at home, I switched to HB from the birth center at 33 weeks because I just could not see doing that drive again in labor and wanted more freedom and control over my own care. We found an awesome and empowering lay midwife, and the baby came so quickly (much more intense this time!!) the mw wasn't there yet and it was just my dh and I home. Again, it was amazing and incredible, to have no interventions whatsoever during or after the birth and do it all on my own strength with just my dh there to catch him. OH, and he was 7.5# which to us was huge after my first peanut!

ok, so I have been holding off but here they all are...

Screenname: MollyKenzie (I had no imagination that day) wish I could change it now...but MDC wont let me...
Real Name: Molly
#Pregnancy: Second, but will include birthing two babies! so three altogether
EDD: July 8th, but will most likely deliver earlier
Where you plan to birth: Not sure yet, would love a homebirth, but some things might change the closer we get

Other children/birth stats: Owen, just turned two last week. We labored at home and delivered at the hospitol with a midwife. Total labor was about 5 hours and very intense. He was born about 4 days early. No drugs, vacinations, or circumcision for us, which is a pretty big deal in my family since we are actually jewish.

Other Stuff: This twins things is totally unplanned for us and quite a shock still. I am a part time teacher and my wife is a the manager of a local store so we were not prepared for the expense of a large family. But we will make due. I live in the same town I grew up in, with most of my very large family here too. I love my ds #1 so much...we got to use the same donor for these babies, so I cant wait to have two more just like him....of course I do know that they will be their own personality and all, but at least we know that they will be cute

other stuff I'm missing? I am a motherless daughter (since age 9), youngest of 4 siblings. My views on childbirth are considered extreme by my family so I'm not really sharing much with them. My husband is a holistic doctor and with a little luck, will be catching our baby. Glad to be here with supportive, like-minded women.

I hope they treat you well, knowing you have no prenatal care, at least according to their definition.

My screen Name is: kgmack
My real name is: Keri
Pregnancy #1
EDD: July 6th
Where do you plan to birth: The Birth and Women's Center in Topeka
Other Stuff: I didn't mean to get pregnant so quickly, I thought it would take longer, not just two cycles. My Best Friend is getting married on July 26th, so I'm hoping to have this baby as close to the EDD as possible to give me plenty of time to get a dress altered. Eek!

real name (if you're comfortable sharing): Amy
#pregnancy for you: #5 (including an early m/c)
EDD (or due month if you don't want an exact date): July 29th (according to my calculations)
where you plan to birth: Hospital- the same one where I delivered my other children
other children/birth stats: Zachary (02.28.00) hospital birth 7 hours w/ epidural, Alden (01.14.05) induced hospital birth 4 hours w/ epidural, Eleanor (04.19.06) induced hospital birth 2 hours w/ epidaurl (although if I had it to do all over again, I would have skipped the epi since labor was so short)

other stuff I'm missing?: I am still a little in shock to be pregnant again- Eleanor is still nursing a ton at night and several times during the day so I am extremely nervous how that is going to work out in the coming months. My previous 2 births were induced because my DH was travelling for work and it was really the only way we could insure that he would be there for the births- with each birth was at least 4 cm when I arrived that the hospital and had wonderful experiences with my births. I now that they are not what many moms on MDC chose for their births but it worked for us.
