I have 952 words typed (I write better w/ longhand, so that's what it starts on, but I type faster than I write!) so far. Waiting for ds to be ready for his nap.

Haven't even started yet. Will see what comes out tonight. I know I am not going to be able to the approx 1700 a day, but will see what I can do to make up on Sundays, our quiet day at home and on the day after Thanksgiving since I have the day off.

Hi there-

Subbing in! It's my first year! It is a bummer the Nano site is having such a problem, but hopefully I can get some motivation and support here.

This thing is a hoot. I was writing this afternoon thinking -this is lousy prose, but WHO cares since I have to finish. Best of luck to everyone!

Augh, the NaNo site is really poky today. I think that's a hint for me to donate but I haven't yet.

I'm writing a semi-chick lit mystery. I wrote 1859 words and it looks like my daughter is playing alone for a bit so I'm going to try to cram in a few more today.

I haven't written for pleasure (except MBs) for a long time so this is wonderful! It's hard to do but I'm slowly getting in the groove.

How do we update our word count on the Nano site? It's too slow for trial and error and not immediately obvious to me.

Go to "edit profile" and then you are going to go to author info (the tab that isn't selected.) Scroll down and there is a word count field and an excerpt field. Enter your number and hit submit.

Took me a while to find it too.

I almost got 1000 done today, and I'm pretty pleased! I also got a letter of complaint written and facilitated a rededication ceremony for dd's girl scouts, nursed my sickling, got dh off on his trip, fed the pets, washed the laundry, walked the dog, and got my food coop order in! So PHEW and good night!

And THANK YOU for the directions on how to update the word count... maybe tomorrow it'll load! :

Nano's site is moving so slowly for me right now that I am going to wait until morning to enter my total and find the MDC thread. I got on Nano this morning and it wasn't too bad, so that may be the best time to do it.

I had such a busy day - a preschool field trip with DS2, a parent/teacher conference for DS1, basketball practice for DS1 and dinner at the grandparents. Whew! I still managed to write 1,688 words.

I'm happy with my first chapter. Already it's going places I never imagined before! That is one of the things I love about Nano! It's amazing what you can type when you just let it come out and don't over think it.

Wow, talk of first pages and first chapters. Am I the only one whose thoughts are all over the place? I have my ending, some character development, several random lines and paragraphs, the odd thought here and there, and a little of the middle. I'm not forcng anything; that's just how it's coming out.

OK, this is one of those things I'm kicking myself over never having heard of before...

So what I want to know is, as I briefly contemplating doing this with an approx 8mo and then decide maybe it will be easier next year with a 20mo, how old are your kid(s), and when do you find the time??

18 months, and before she wakes up in the morning. A challenge on top of the writing.

Might as well try it. Worst that happens is you don't finish in a month.
