We worked on our basement that has not been touched in 6 years! I really mean it has not been ouched! We got rid of 142 items and have a huge pile for a yard sale that I didn't even begin to count!

Goal 350 items

101 since a few hours ago. WHEW! I cleaned out the fridge and pantry, and starting to clean out the freezer but fingers starting sticking to everything so I quit. I also put a few more things in the goodwill pile.

ETA: I forgot my total- 252/300.

All right, so this morning I got rid of about 25 old broken plastic yucky toys and 2 shirts + 1 pants + 10 or so old undies from my too full drawer. So 38 for the day, not bad! Especially since it's not even 8am yet!

Whoohoo! DH took the kids to a parade, and I ruthlessly purged their rooms. Total 75.

Had an awesome decluttering weekend.

Got rid of:

a bunch of junky toys
several big piles of papers
some old scratched cds

Didn't keep a close count but it was a LOT so I am counting it as 200

87 + 200 = 287/425

HollysMom - You count like I do!! Ummmm...that's gotta be 200!!

I got rid of a handful of random stuff again today. Not making good progress toward my goal. But some progress is better than no progress. I'm gonna say 5 items today.

ETA: On a whim I grabbed a box in DD2's closet to go through. It was full of audio cassette tapes, two car discman, and some headphones. I tossed 40 more items!!! Woohoo!!

Nothing new again, and tomorrow a friend is supposed to come and help me tote all the stuff I have (not) decluttered to St. Vincent de Paul. Ugh, I'll have a few hours in the morning to get some stuff together. Still

Keep up the good work, Iris' mom! Your doing great.
You'll get there!

Do any of you envision what you will declutter before you do it?

Like before I start to tackle something, I will sit down a moment, close my eyes and mentally rake them over the space, envisioning what I will take to the garage; my depot for my stuff on its way to the trash, donation, or recycling, etc, and then envision the room cleared and how I'd like it to be. Once I envision the process, I can then go and do it, even if I may not get to all of it before a child calls or cereal is spilled all over the floor, I will still have the process set up for when I get back.

I do, but that's usually because I have more time to think than actually de-clutter!!

I accomplished a lot in the 1.5 hrs DH and DD were gone on Saturday:

5 knick-knacks
bag of clothes to donation bin (approx. 15 items)
wooden decoration (she's picking up today)
23 stuffed animals from a bin in our attic (they were mine - I took a few pictures, and out they went!)
pottery DH made in college (he said he doesn't want most of it) 12 pieces

And I'm counting DH's efforts too: one room's ripped up, old carpet and padding! (2)

Total for the weekend: 58 big, bulky items!

Yep. Like anthasam said, it's because I have more time to think about decluttering than I actually spend doing it!

Today we have a lot to do, so I don't know that I'll get any thing uncluttered. But I did manage to take some things upstairs and empty out an old purse already. Some of my decluttering is simply finding better homes for stuff. It's amazing how things pile up, esp since having kids.

I'm going to count the things I tossed from the old purse as 1 item. Last night I found an MDC mama who wanted two snappis I offered to give away for free. So, 3 more items since the last time I posted.

183/416

ETA: 20 more items from the kitchen. Random junk drawer stuff.

All right! I finally got through my armoire and dresser full of clothes that don't fit me anymore. Gathered 115 items to give to charity. Yay! That makes

You guys are all doing so great! I'm slacking but I have a really busy work schedule last week and this week because of the holidays coming up. Next week will be slow and hopefully I can get more of my own stuff done. I don't mine, as it means I'll have more $$ to spend on holidays, but I hate taking the time away from my household. Ah well, can't have it all I suppose.

Last night after my sad post, I cleaned out the fridge and got rid of 2 old packages of cheese, 1 unidentifiable meat packet, an old bowl of chili and some expired yogurt.

So 5 from the fridge.

I also got rid of my moldy shower curtain liner, a bag of trash from upstairs, and a box of junk.

8 total for yesterday.

A few items from the fridge (4), recycled a few water bottles I was going to donate - I realized they were "unsafe" plastic (3), and cleared off the top of the fridge in the garage (3).

I think the fridge might be the next big thing to go. It's extra and we keep it off unless we're having a party and need the extra space. (We have a side-by-side in the kitchen and platters don't fit.) It's useful, but we *rarely* use it and it's taking up space in the garage.

I'm waffling on this one :

So, 10 for today...

I haven't gotten much done b/c I've been so busy with work. Today I cleaned the fridge and got rid of 3 truly horrid things. Tonight we'll be getting rid of 2 freezer items. Also since my last post I sold 8 books, junked 2 broken jewel cases, threw away a broken, gross recipe box and put out 2 months worth of recycling. Normally I wouldn't count that, but half of my shed was taken up with recycling since they didn't pick up last month for some reason. I'm counting that as 2.

New total: 161/500

YAY! Way to motivate! I just tossed about 1/3 of dd's stuffed animals. I swear those things multiply in the night. 15 more.

i'm joining in late in the game...i decluttered/reorganised a bathroom drawer, a filing cabinet drawer, a kitchen drawer, and i emptied out our clogged storage closet of all the stuff that is on its way out. i put it in the shower because everyone uses the other bathroom : and i'm hoping it won't be there in two days.

i'm not counting items, but i am counting general areas.

the areas left to address (hopefully this month:!) are:

under the bathroom sink
toys/toy storage
a closet at my parents house
hand-me-downs and pass-me-ons
art
winter clothing/seasonal storage
wrong-sized adult clothing
dress-up stuff
technology

lastly i plan to do a fierce cull of everyone's clothing, i'm tired of doing SO MUCH LAUNDRY. we pretty much wear the same stuff all the time anyway!

i do hope to sell a bunch of things

go-go-declutterers!

I made my goal of 300. Mostly trashed, a couple of bags for the free store.
I still need to clean up the basement .
