Happy November Challenge Declutter-ers! - Page 3

Cleaned out the drawers in the living room as per plan.

I clean these out about once a year to almost empty and they ALWAYS end up full of stuff again.

1 mini first aid kit with nothing good left in it
3 old emery boards
9 magazines
7 more catalogues (what is it with us and these things)
4 large piles of paper
1 pile of old greeting cards
1 paint brush
1 pez dispenser
1 cat nail clipper (we haven't had any cats in over a year and half and won't be getting one anytime soon)
1 old ball of playdoh
6 full colouring books
1 used glow stick
1 pile of receipts
1 pile of stale candy

23 + 38 = 61/425

Hi, I'm new, and in serious need of decluttering. I'm going to try for 300 items.

Just curious based on some posts -- getting rid of, say, old bills and such -- do those count? Thanks.

I forgot to include the bazillion & one tupperware catalogs that I ditched last month (old season stuff) .. boy that would've given me a huge number (they all went into the recycle bin)

AND if I get super-ambitious, or if I have time after the other projects are out of the way: work on photo project (sorting and putting into binders) and start going through our many books in the garage.

Whew! I need to take a break after writing that!
I feel your pain, the owners of the house we rent did the same (shed full of ancient broken junk) I don't think you should feel too bad about it heading for the dump... sometimes there just isn't another option honestly ... and If you don't think that list was ambitious enough, man I'm lazy! because I was exhausted just reading it!

TODAY: is organize & declutter my craft crap day! : I have a set of shelves that are going in 1/3 of our bedroom closet and I have decided all of my craft stuff must fit in that area or it must go. Wish me luck, may the force be with me!

I'm giving myself 10 items so far for dumping a box in the trash without counting what was in it first. LOL

10/100

I've also listed a bunch of stuff on FreeCycle, so : that some of that stuff moves out too. (If not, I'm soooo done with FC!)

84/416 so far today.

I've been in DD2's closet today pulling out things that are too small for her. I'm giving most of it away to a friend whose granddaughter needs clothes. Some of it will go to Goodwill. And a few pieces I need to return to friends.

1000 items

That is my goal.

My little one is 6 months old and I haven't even looked at the bin of newborn clothing left over from the last baby. So, it is safe to say that I have at least a dozen large Rubbermaid bins of clothing just sitting in the attic that would be better served at the Salvation Army.

OK. Officially done with DD2's closet.

101/416

DH doesn't think I'll make it to my goal this month. But I'm shooting to go over it. If I can get both girls' closets done, kitchen, and garage I'll be way over. Got to get it done by T-giving though. Xmas will throw things back into clutter disarray. At least this way I have a head start.

There are some things I still need to declutter from DD2's closet. But I'm done with her clothes. How do I convince DH to let go of his Star Wars toys? He's a grown man. Seriously.

1 yucky sponge mop
1 gigantic contractor sized bag of misc. junk from the basement (counting as 10)
1 tool left by the satellite tv man nine months ago
1 basket of assorted junk
1 portfolio of really old artwork from high school (counting as 5)
1 expired and slightly broken infant carseat (this one was a little sad, all my babies rode in it and I'm all done there...)
1 baseball hat passed along to my dad

today's total: 20

I decided to set my goal at 100 items. That way I can hopefully reach it and experience success. Plus I'm trying to be realistic about how much decluttering I can do with a newborn.

So far...
10 items to Purple Heart
3 items freecycled

I'm in! I've been starting to declutter and organize and develop good habits. I've never counted though. I just throw stuff in a Goodwill bag or a garbage bag. Is it more motivating to count? It seems like it might slow me down. Or is it more eye opening when you see how much crap you get rid of and might help you not bring in as much?

My goal though is to have our guest bedroom, holiday closet, my closet and the basement storage room completely decluttered and organized by Thanksgiving. I got a huge start on the guest bedroom (dumping ground and all the kid clothes are in there) a couple days ago, but still have a lot to do.

I got rid of 25 things in today's challenge, not going to relist them all but it was fun.

Sold about 60 books, cds and dvds today. I have more to ell, just didn't get to it today. Also listed a ton on half.com, but won't count them until sold. Finally, we added a bunch to the ebay box, now I just need to find time to list them.

I'm at 67/300.

I could go back and quote but I'm feeling lazy sooooo...
1) I think it's fine to count your pantry stuff! It's out of your house, why not?
2) As for paper clutter, sometimes I count each one, sometimes I just count handfuls. Whatever way you want to do it

I'm setting goals by areas. This month my goal is to clear 2 hallway closets & the laundry room.

Last month I set & achieved my goal of allowing no additional clutter to accumulate (for me a REAL BIGGIE). The previous month I successfully de-cluttered my bedroom (my portion) which netted 6 bags of books to friends/goodwill, 2 large trash bags of magazine & paper recycle & 2 kitchen trash bags of other non-recyclable trash.
