April 2007 babes - November HAS ARRIVED! - Page 6

I heard that if they bite you are suppose to push their face into your breast so they will open their mouth and release your nipple. They you firmly say "No, you hurt mommy."

I think it's the age... Romi has taken to taking handful of my boobs and pinching them. Painful. And I can tell she gets really short-fused with nursing. no more nak'ing for me. I need to be completely concentrated on her. And no talking!

Hanno: good to hear about your life in such detail! Queen is right, Ion looks like a little man!! I think it's the chub vs thin factor... Liam was thin and everyone always said he looked older than he was. Even if he was smaller. Whatev, the boy is cute!!! I love the picture of him in the pumpkin!!

Know what's sad? Keagan is so used to me nursing at the computer that he gets kind of fussy anywhere else He will occasionally grab my nipple like that too- usually when I am trying to nurse in public. goofy kid.

I will have to try the "That hurts mommy" technique. It's making nursing hard!

Dh is driving me nutso. He is super stressed cause he has impossible deadlines at work, and he works overtime after the kids are asleep, but now he's cursing cause work is going badly, and he's trying to put romi to sleep since "I have a whole team waiting for me" and she's not going for it. She's 6mths old!!! Cut her some slack.

He's a graphic designer. I hate his job sometimes.

I just put a finger in their mouth to release the nipple. But I've never really been bitten. Yet.

This is what we do:
1) say "gentle with mama"
2) take him off, say "ouch, that hurts mama" back on
3) take him off for a minute, firmly say "don't hurt mama"
We have only made it to #3 once because having nipple taken away for a whole minute might as well be a million years to him. He learned to switch to something else if he needs to bite. He usually has a cloth or toy in his hand while he's nursing anyway so he swaps that and bites until the urge is better and he's ready to suck again. No guarantees this will work forever, but here's hoping. I also (only half jokingly) told him that if he bit mama too many times that he would only ever get pumped milk in a glass.

I am! DS went to Montessori school for 3 years and now we are homeschooling. It's going on great on the days DD lets me! It's hard and some days nothing gets done. But then other days it's easy (like today) and we go like gangbusters. I figure that as time goes on and she's less needy, we will get more done. Right now we just fit lessons around DD's schedule. DS takes marital arts and swimming so at least that gets done!

Hey everyone! I miss you guys...been thinking of you all as I watch how fast my Katelyn is growing.

Love the pics! Everyone's babes are just too precious. I don't remember who said it, but I wish we could have a big playdate for our ddc, too. That would be amazing!

Here's a link to some pics of Katey:

Looking forward to catching up with you all.

UltimateSerj, we're a homeschooling family.

It's going well, actually. Doing lots more this year, compared to last. :

'Mommy, I want daddy' ( I was getting tea in the kitchen)
'Why do you want daddy, Axel? You need to go to sleep'
'Oh, I want daddy to come down'
'Ok Axel (I go into his room and sit on his bed), I'll get daddy, but tell me what's the matter'
'Oh, mommy, there was a big scary monster and I was scared'
'Oh. really. Well, Axel, I'll get daddy, but let me tell you something, monsters arent' real, they're just pretend'
'well, there's just one problem mommy'
'what's that?'
'there was a monster'
'oh, really. ok, well, where was the monster?'
'in the kitchen'
'and what did the monster look like?'
'a frog. big and round. it was scary and I was scared when I was sleeping'
'oh. well, are you sure you weren't dreaming?'
'wellll, maybe I was dreaming'

ok, so maybe that doesn't translate well into type. sometimes I think things are funny and no one else does.: but it was cute that he was so sure he saw a monster, and he knew what it looked like. in a way I feel sad, though, I don't want him to be scared of things. and i liked, 'wew, deh's just one pwobwem mummy' he's not even 3!

ok, so anyone else have some awesome stories?
A
(i was wondering where montanamama was too)
I'd have lots, but my 3yr old's logic doesn't translate well, so unless you're fluent in french... But seriously, nothing is cuter than hearing Liam speak. And his logic is adorable. And he's learning to lie and to manipulate, but it's so awkward that it makes me melt. Cute and infuriating. I love my toddler :

So I just tried the "That hurts mommy" approach.
Not so much. He thought it was funny and did it more. : I am now keeping boobie away from him for a minute. We'll see if it works.
So he didn't want to nurse when I offered it again. I don't want to discourage nursing... just harming my nipples. Sigh.
Johnny bites down and pinches as well...and has recently decided he only likes to sleep with boobie in his mouth! So sometimes he gets a little upset when I take it away - but he can't bite mama!

Johnny learned how to take his socks and hat off today...it was so cute (though I'm sure it will become frustrating) He also realized he can pull up on one of his toys (the kind that babies typically lay under and look at the dangling toys) only he can't reach the high part, so he does it on the part that is about 4" off the ground and topples head first over it. I guess the little play area make-shift inclosure I made for him is no longer safe! Anyone elses babe covered in bumps bruisess and scratches? I feel bad, but I am not going to hover over him to the point he can't do anything!

Anyone elses babies not liking to be worn as much? Johnny still likes it a lot but needs plenty of floor time too - but floor time with mommy very near by of course!

Why is it that shoes are suposed to be bad for babies? I have been putting him in shoes sometimes when we go out in case he gets down so his socks don't get dirty and because they are all to small and fall off his feet - they have soft soles...but I know I heard somewhere it is bad for babies to wear shoes???

Caroline recovered from hitting the entertainment center but she hit the corner right by her eye! and its got a mark her first boo boo she lived tho.

Lilmamma, soft shoes no rubber at all just leather or cotton, bootys or robeez are ok help keep socks on and feet warm, but constrictive hard shoes don't let the baby's foot grow and move like it needs to.
btw Caroline has been taking of her socks for weeks now and or wiggling so much they fall off most of the time i just don't use any at all but now its colder i am more and more, actually i don't have enough!! and i need to buy her more! lol anyway robeez keep them on great! no my problem is she has boy robeez in 0-6( from her brother) i want girly ones but i think she will out grow the 0-6 fast but the 6-12 are so big on her little fat feet!! lol nothing is easy is it?! lol

Biting while nursing, btdt and going thru it again! lots of moms recomend the pulling them in tight so they open and come off, i usually yelp and stick a finger in and say ouch that hurts mommy and if it was bad and i was really hurting i would put the baby down and not nurse for a little while, if babe is nursing correctly/actively they can not bite, so to me thats playing and not needing to be nursed at the moment, and give them a toy/teether.
now there is also stretching the nipple while latched on to look around its not the same as biting but its isn't nice either then i usually unlatch them and let them look around my nipples can stretch pretty far now tho LOL. nursing a toddler is even more fun when they start nursing gymnastic

Hanno and doudat- i love nursing pics and try to get as many as i can... to bad i usually hate the pic of me lol but love the babe in it! that pic my friend took after i had taken one of her nursing her 14 month old to sleep in her sling dressed as a chicken lol what i sight we must of been.

That's what he's doing. He's stretching them very far. We dealt with bighting a few weeks ago and that was easier than this! He seems to want to hold on... it's like he's extra excited for food or something. When it last happened, I yelped (not on purpose, it just hurt too bad to hold in!) and pulled back. He looked like he was going to cry. It made my heart hurt a little bit. I guess that is closer to getting it right than laughing though.

yeah you kinda react before thinking and it can scare them but they will live and maybe even learn! one thing is that it could be he is trying to stimulate more milk/another let down pulling like that. or just to busy to just nurse, try nursing in a dark quite room if its happening alot and at this age just keep that finger ready to slide on in there to pry those little bear trap teeth off! ( or even gums they hurt too! lol)

I am so glad we were missed!

Hi gals!
We are all moved in and have a few more boxes to go. I am never moving again! It was dreadful, Noah started teething 3 days before the day. Luckily, I just stayed at my mom's while the guys moved all the stuff. DH unpacked for 2 days. I toted around a very unhappy Noah. My hip even got raw and red! And I used my Mei Tai like crazy!!! The timing....ugh! Anyway, I felt the tooth on Sat. and it has vanished. But he is superfussy and congested again tonight, so here we go again. I have miserable teething babies. They always get fevers and won't sleep except for on me. Very exhausting! I am so happy to be here, though. See alot more of DH (student). AND me neighbors have a 2 month old girl...I love them! And she is a teacher, too!

DS1 is a real handful too...trying to give up his nap. I am thinking about applying for some scholarships for preschool-if any exist. He is driving me :. Poor little guy.
