Can I just say that TEETHING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

Elise has been such a grump today. I haven't been able to do anything. She has cried more today than she has in her whole 6mths of life. I feel so sorry for her. I think my boobies are ready for her to feel better too. :

Baraka,
Thanks for supporting my habit!

We too have a johnny jumper and Elise LOVES it. I think all things in moderation too. I do have to cook and take care of 2 other kids so this helps and she just cracks up in there. I know I'm doing the best that I can for my family so I'm ok w/ using it when I need too.

Gotta run she is up agian.::

For the longest time my 2.5 year old would say: Get Emma.... she would be asleep and I would tell him, no she's sleeping. I thought he was just missing her. I figured out after a while that he was actually hearing her wake up, much before I would. So, now when he say, go get emma.... we go get her. She's awake from her nap 9 times out of 10.

My period is looming. I have been sensing it's coming. I'll let you all guess with which sense. Two days ago I boiled my Diva cup and assembled a get-af-back-while-out-of-the-house baggie in my diaper bag. I got up in the middle of the night thinking I felt it, and this morning too. But nothing! Weird, huh?!

Yes, I always listen when Delia has an idea about what Henry wants. Kids are cool like that.

We put our mattress up on a foundation today. I hope I don't regret it! Henry heads for the edge head first all the time. A few days ago I woke up and he was off the foot of the mattress... Today he pulled my laptop off the couch onto his head.

A friend told me today that early mobility is sometimes a sign of allergies! So now I'm all freaked out about that. It's always something, right? If your kid isn't moving early you're freaked out, if they are, now I guess you also freak out! Ah, motherhood. Can't beat the guilt.

Elisabeth woke kinda crying, so I got her off our bed, and she fell back asleep on me. That's one of my favourite things. 'Everyone' says out them down and get stuff done while they're sleeping, that's my favourite time to sit and hold her.

E was too. I missed what Liam's surgery was for--is it with the celiac? I'm so sorry they're sick. I'll be praying for you all. I'm just dreading when E gets sick. I recall I threw one morning a couple months ago, and then she did too. It was weird. I just felt nauseous, wasn't sick, and neither was she.

has finally quit fussing about getting peed on. He just says, I gotta change. When E was really little, we were sitting on the bed diaperless, she was on my tummy and of course, she pooped and it ran down between my legs and off both sides, I was howling laughing, and says, "It's on the bed!" in this horrified voice. I look and there's a spot the size of a nickel. It was all on me, and I'd managed to get most of it before it ran off of me. So then I was laughing harder because it was all over me, and he was spazzing about this teeny bit on the bed. I kinda just take poop as par for the course. It doesn't stink to high heaven--yet.

I want to get a cup, how did you decide on one? I can't figure out, and I can't collect them and baby carriers-- will me.

Mobility=allergies? I want to see the info on that. Sounds silly unless they get into dust and allergens on the floor? I've always been allergic to dust.

Re: older child knowing what baby needs--COOL!

PS I love multi-quote, esp. when my i-net doesn't work for a day, and I miss 3 pages worth!

That is my favorite time. I love at night when its all dark out and everyone is asleep and I get to hold my baby. She is growing up way to fast for my taste.

Liam has juvenile arthritis which was caused by the celiac's disease. His jaw is not growing right. They pulled eight teeth last Friday. It took a couple of hours under a general. Then he had more work today. All and all he will have about 15 surgeries plus braces before he is 18 to correct this problem. I am not sure if I mentioned it not in here but he has lost too much weight. We have to get him to gain. If he does not gain weight in 8 days they they are inserting a feeding tube. He pretty much refuses to eat everything. We give in to him and say fine eat wheat and he will not eat that even. Our dr. said our goal is to fatten him up. He can eat whatever he wants good or bad. We have been to McDonald's 5 days in a row and he has had a hash brown. WHOOPEE what that has 300 calories? One day he had Taco Time and it took him 6 hours to eat 1/2 of it. Today he had onion rings and hot chocolate.

I am leading a babywearing workshop this weekend at a local store (stillhip.com) and the event was listed today in the neighborhood watch section of New York Magazine's website. Makes me feel a little like vomitting. So, send me calm and smart vibes for Sunday!

Clay is going to sleep early now By 7 pm he is wasted and I had been keeping him up (dh comes home 8-9 pm) but he would get a second wind and go to bed at 10 then. I found he was sleeping badly so last night when he was tired I took him to bed and he slept 7-7 (with 4-5 wakes ups of course but not bad). So, he is out for the night and I get soe alone time with ds1 (which we used to clean his room tonight and read a book).

I need some wine tonight but first I have to finish some work.

We are not sure. He has always been really really small. He looks like the classic celiac kid. He has never ate very much at all. He ate some whipping cream. We had cheese cake to celebrate my oldest birthday last month (this is the first time we have seen him. He is home for the weekend).

It's all here. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=785021
So far I've eaten it raw in chunks, blended into a smoothie, sauteed. The first reminded me a bit of sushi (the only other flesh I've eaten in about 15 yrs) but beefy also. The second I didn't really taste, but didn't like the smoothie for some reason. The third could easily have fooled me if someone had told me it was liver.

I'm doing it to stabilize my moods.

Strangely, while I am developing great reverence for how everything works together, the partnership between baby-in-womb and mother, how the chthonic can be beautiful, still I find I have to make myself do this. I was hoping I would take one bite and think, oh wow, I gotta have more of that! But, no.

wow! those are some great deals! i LOVE resale. i buy next-to-nothing new....for the kids & me & dh & the house....if i can find it used, i'm all over it. it started out being habit from my college years & turned into a fun thing to do to search for a bargain & now it's just out of common sense. better for the pocket book, better for the environment, just better.

On the other hand, I am freaking out like "what am I thinking?" ... I barely even go out at night anymore... where am I going to get the energy for 2 nights of performace and entertaining out of town guests and mothering.....

I am sort of a mess TBH! IF I could just RELAX a bit more, I'll have such a great weekend.
:
thinking of you & your performances. i hope this turns out to be a positive experience for you & that you enjoy that "old part of baraka."

that sounds like an old wives' tale, to me. i can't think of one physiological reason why that would be connected. i might have to google that....

that's great! get the word out!!

i really think bw'ing is going to kick in soon. maybe i'm just saying that, though, because i looked at a yahoo news story yesterday about celebs & their kids & quite a few of them were slingin' their babes. i honestly think mei tai's need to hit the mainstream. they are so easy to use & the back carry is indispensible. plus, they're fashionable! the ring slings, which seem to be the most advertised, have the biggest learning curve, in my experience. i understand that target & BRU are carrying stretchy wraps & pouches, which is cool. mei tai's, though....this is what needs to get out there!

i saw the funniest thing on TBW the other day. there was a thread about babywearing bumper stickers & one of the mamas wanted one that said, "steal the car. leave the crazy pieces of fabric." hilarious! i want one of those!

one more thing....i haven't posted in a while so i'm chatty....i'm becoming more & more leery of the public/any school system & really think i want to hs/unschool but dh would NEVER agree to that. dd1 is only 4 yrs old so i have a few months to process all this but i'm starting to become anxious thinking about it. any advise? books for dh to read? as i've mentioned, he's a public school educator so he'll be a tought one to win over.

My dh was the same exact way. My state offers K12 as a virtual public school. http://http://www.k12.com/ It is a very intensive "home school" program. So we started out with that and gradually got dh to agree to home school status. Now we do k12 for reading, writing, math and history. We do Latin, art and science at a coop. We still are looking for a music program. As time progresses we are really headed towards "unschooling" and being child directed learing.

hey all--dropping in again, jut really quick. Claire is officially sick with her first cold, and let me just take this moment to say how ICKY it is to nurse a snotty-nosed child! Snot-strings attached to my boobs just make me want to hurl. Claire's not too fussed tho--she's not feverish or coughing, just a bit more carnky than usual. It *could* be teething i suppose....

I got her first pair of longies in the mail yesterday--OMG they are adorable! They're from Lollipop Lane on Hyena Cart. If you go look there, you're not allowed to buy anythign I might want!

No updates here, just a call for help. I have a friend in Baroda, MI who needs some other moms to talk to, IRL. She's having a really hard time of it with some financial issues, breastfeeding issues, and just feeling generally stressed out and overwhelmed. Is there anyone here that is near enough to her to know of any moms groups in her area? Kalamazoo and South Bend seem to be the closest towns.

Thanks gals

ETA: she has family in South Bend and is there often, anyone there??
