Which ones are you NOT doing at all and why?

I'm trying to get DH on board w/ delaying until at least 2 but he is having a hard time w/ it b/c he wants them ALL done and on schedule but thats not going to happen. :

So what are your thoughts?

Thanks ladies...
We decided that we were, at miniumum, going to delay until two. But after considering each vaccine along with information on their potential side effects (and the rates and complications of the diseases themselves), we found that we had narrowed them down to...none. I agree with Baraka that each family needs to decide what feels right, and I would certainly turn to allopathic medicine for treatment of any disease should she need it.

ezra won't be 6 months until the 18th but WOW, it is sneaking up on us. happy birthday to the LO's who've already hit this milestone! i haven't done any professional pics with ezra yet but i think i will within the next month.

We are selective and delayed (both kids) so ds1 is done (we skipped three) and Clay has had 2 shots so far and I think I will wait until 8 or 9 months for the next.

FireMomma - My heart and prayers are with you during this time. Post more when you can. Much Love. s

We are going selectively with vaxing. We are doing them on schedule, and not doing Hep B or polio right now. I might actually do chicken pox for myself when I'm not nursing. I'll probably do it for Emma, since not being immune to chicken pox was a problem during my pregnancies.

Emma is scooting wherever she wants to go. She's started trying to crawl. She gets up on all fours and rocks, or takes a "step" then loses balance. I expect her to be crawling relatively soon.

Ethan (my 2 year old) is doing awesome potty training. WoW!

Between the two of them, I'm swamped! Emma's not taking a long nap like she was a couple weeks ago and I'm missing that down time around here.

I'm also struggling with PPD. It hit me hard a couple weeks ago. Actually, I think what happened was that it hit me right after Emma's birth but I chalked it up to hormone flux. A couple weeks ago I realized that I didn't like feeling the way that I did. I have been taking St johns wort and I just bought a blend from our local nutrition store with that, 5-htp and inositol? I think thats what it is.

We have delayed everything so far. I'm going to skip the 6 month appt, so I have at least until 9 months to make some decisions about vaxing. I'd like to wait until he's 2 to do anything, but I doubt DH will agree to that.
We will not get flu, CP, or Hep A or B

Hi! I haven't posted in a monthly thread yet... not since we were all pregnant! It's so cool to hear about what other babies lizzy's age are doing. She was born end of may, so still aways off from 6 months.
her updates.... she is around 18lbs, and 27" tall! She is trying so hard to crawl and gets so so frustrated! She goes on all fours and rocks, she does get around though, she kind of shuffles along on her bum and can go right across the room if given enough time! She pulls herself up on everything... ugh... things need babyprofing! She just got her first tooth a few days ago, and it hurts to nurse! i guess i'll just get used to it.
All else is well, i've been exercising everyday but i'm still totally ravenous all the time so not seeing much weight loss.
I have been giving her little bits of mashed banana or mashed carrot to play with, she tastes it and makes a mess but hasn't really eaten anything yet. I planned to wait longer to giver her solids but she fusses and wants our food so letting her try to self feed makes her happy.
I don't think we will be doing any vaxes, none for now anyway.

Happy half year!! I can't believe it! :

That makes sense to me. I'm thinking that might be why he sat so early too. Like a weeble, bottom heavy.

Hi Mama's,

Darci is full out crawling now. She is also trying to stand up. I will have a baby toddling around here before too long. It makes me sad because Darci has been the best baby ever, Sweet and cuddlebuggish. It went way too fast, waaaay too fast. ):

Thanks for the well wishes, mamas. To answer the vax question, we haven't done any yet, and I think we will most likely skip them altogether.

Andrew isn't crawling or sitting up yet, but he does a lot of rolling, both forward and back, and he gets around that way. He babbles constantly, which is really fun.

I'm not sure why I am losing so much weight, other than just breastfeeding all night long and not sleeping much at all. I am so close to caving in with the rice cereal business...last night he nursed every hour starting at 1:45 a.m. I'm trying to find the positive in this, but it is really having a toll on my and DH's relationship. I am always in a bad mood and we snip at each other all day long.

Bellita- My first son did this (nursed all night long, often sleeping for only 20 minutes off the breast). It was SO hard. BUT, cereal made exactly zero difference, as did any and all food. That is just how he was. And, he out grew it and now he sleeps through everything.

My theory is this (and it got me through the long nights): You pay now or you pay later but everybody pays. Some babies sleep 8 hours from brith and stop with teething or learn to walk and are up wandering around at night. Some get to be 4 and are plagued by night terrors or frequent waking or bed wetting or what not. The point is: you pay. I paid early and so are you. This too shall pass

Thanks MSAX...it's just been a really tough week. I'm just sort of at the end of my leash. My DH is sick and things are just all kinds of screwy right now...

One happy thing is that Andrew answers to his name. It's pretty neat. Also wanted to say, no teeth yet here, but lots of drool and chomping!

I am corrupting my daughter. She does not nurse real well during the day. Too much going on around her. We had a busy day having Liam's surgery so she did not eat a lot. So when we got home I took her upstairs so she could eat. She was playing with my face while she ate and so I started kissing her hand which made her crack up laughing and stop nursing but it was so cute. So ya I am already off with another kid and not being consistent.

Oh Maggie learned to day how to take her hand and bang it on her mouth so it makes the sound. She had been using my hand to do it but today she did it all on her own. She was very loud in the recovery room doing this.

wow, this is a fast moving thread!

at this point we are officially delaying (well, that's what i told the ped), but i am feeling more drawn to just foregoing them all together. we'll see i guess. he is definitely not getting any until at least 18 months.

rowan can roll from his back to his tummy, but hasn't made it from tummy to back yet. he has started pushing himself up with his hands (kind of like cobra pose) but hasn't pushed up onto his knees or feet yet. he doesn't sit either. i hold him in my lap sitting a lot but whenever i try to sit him on his own he arches his back.

he has no teeth yet, but they must be coming. he drools like a faucet, chews everything he can get into his mouth (grown up fingers being his favorite treat!), and has started trying to bite off my nipples-ouch! he nurses like usual and then all of the sudden chomps down and pulls off like he is trying to bite my nipple right off!!

no food here yet, but he is so interested. he watches me (and everyone else) eat with major interest. i don't think i'm even going to try baby food this time. neither of my other kids liked it and it was just a big waste of time. i'll guess he's ready to eat when he can do it himself- not sure when that will be.

my 'eat to live' came today. can't wait to get started on it- after the halloween candy is gone.

oooh, it looks like i missed a lot of cute baby pics. off to look at them now....

Yep - Henry is doing this. Doesn't cry so much as complain and then chases after me. Slowly.

We are delaying indefinitely. That's the status on Delia, who is four now. We might have gotten some if we lived in a bigger city or were around people more in general, daycare, working outside our home, weren't total recluses. LOL I am happy with the decision and will be doing the same for Henry. My husband wasn't on board but we have an agreement - when we disagree, whoever says no wins. We opt towards not doing something rather than doing something someone doesn't want to do.

We ended up not doing anything today. Delia was a complete brat all day. Didn't want to get dressed, leave the house, anything. I think she was going for the record of saying "No, I don't want to right now." and "I don't have to." Oh, _excuse me_ for asking you to wash your hands before we bake cookies!!! I was trying to figure out what was wrong with her all day but she wouldn't admit anything was wrong. Then, when she was going to bed (way late and after she had kept Henry up and REALLY annoyed me!!!) she said her bones were growing and hurting. Hopefully she wasn't lying just to make me less mad at her. LOL Anyway... I did manage to weigh Henry but not measure him. 23 lbs 8 oz And now he feels heavier. ROFL I always regret weighing him!!! I've got to measure him tomorrow - I lie him down and mark the top of his head, then his heel and then move him and measure between the marks. And clip his nails - that's Friday's chore but I only got Delia's today.

Henry has a bit of a cold. Went and steamed him up in the bathroom this afternoon. It's not bad, but still a bummer.

I wish everyone with traveling husbands the best. I couldn't imagine it. Ryan went on a two night canoe trip when Henry was a few weeks old. I just let EVERYTHING except taking care of the kids go, but you can't do that for very long!

(that was my first time multi-quoting! Fun fun!)

Oh, and I got up and jogged/walked this morning! It felt great to make time for that, and then take a shower even! My legs are the tiniest bit sore tonight so I feel like I did just the right amount. Hope to do the same tomorrow. It was fun - I let my dogs out and ran around the field/swamp/pasture/woods with them.

I didn't think so, but apparently we probably do. Went to see hubby's show last night and Sam pitched a fit for the babysitter. I'm not sure she'll say yes to babysitting for a LONG time . Boy, I needed that night out though - the Halloween aftermath was crazy around here.

nak...raven hasn't even been to the doc yet : i don't want to vax her as a baby. maybe when she's older, if she ends up going to public school, and selectively, and not all at once. i think that's the part i hate the most, that they overload the lo's with so many at once. i just don't buy that it is necessary or perfectly harmless. foreign animal protiens and fetal cells injected into the bloodstream is perfectly harmless? my mom stopped getting my vaxes after the first one because it made me really sick. it was the 2 month one, inc. pertussis, and I still got whooping cough a couple weeks after it.

i, on the other hand, have been to the doctor... and they called yesterday and told me that they found an "abnormal lesion" on my cervix. so now i have to go for a .. umm. colposcopy? i think. i'm about 7.3% freaked out. not too much yet, but i guess it will depend on the results of the next test.

Oh, Amy! I'm so sorry. Hopefully, it's nothing. I'll be thinking of you.

Oh yeah, I didn't even want to bring up the animal proteins and stuff that is in them... My mom is convinced that my little brothers have learning disorders because of their vaxes. They were both premature and she got them on schedule for babies who were full term. So, needless to say, my mom is fully supportive of our decision not to vax, and plus, when I was a baby (26 years ago) there were only 5 vaxes, now it's like 13 or more!

Amy! Hope everything turns out OK.
hi all! and hi to the lurkers coming out of hiding too!

s to firemomma and Laura and Amy and everyone else who is dealing with *stuff*, however big or small.. :

I've been having an internet-break I suppose...been leveling my warlock on World of Warcraft still : My dh bought another computer and got a seperate WoW account, so we can play together. We are uber-dorks now

Halloween sucked so badly--because the town I live in decided to start it at FIVE, when it's not even dark yet, and then nobody had their porchlights on because they were all at CHURCHES celebrating "fall festivals" and such... :need a smilie for "appalled at the paranoia": I don't want to go to a church anyway, and certainly not so my kids can get free candy along with "Jesus loves me" bracelets, etc etc. We tried to go to the mall, but by the time we got there (barely 7pm) all the stores were like "we're outta candy! sorry!" We bought the kids dippin dots and a video game and went home. : We did look cool tho!

Claire went to her 1st dr. appt since she was a week old the other day. Guess I don't know how to measure. She's 25 1/4 inches, not 27 like I was thinking. The nurse and I did it like 3 times to be sure! She's also 14lbs 8oz, which seemed pretty petite to me, so I was anticipating a lecture. But no, doc said she's 50th percentile for height and weight. She sure seems tiny to me tho! He also didn't even bring up shots until I reminded him that we aren't doing them, and he just said "oh yeah, I know!" So he's a cool doc I guess.

TMI-ish: I got whalloped with the AF from HELL plus a nasty cold last week, and I am still recovering--from both I remember the first 4 AFs I had after Lili was born were two-week long, two-months-apart, crampy, HORRIBLE ordeals (and each accompanied by a cold) for me, and I was thinking I'd gotten off without that happening this time since I'd already had 2 pretty average AFs already. But maybe not, sigh..

Claire also pulled up to standing the other day, using the rungs of the dining chair! She kinda bumped her head on the seat tho, so wasn't much interested in trying again. She's scooting forward on all fours now--it's like she hasn't mastered using each leg seperately yet, yk? Talking, well.....she says MAMAMMA when she's mad about something, and she'll say hey/hi in the mornings...her new thing is this screechy whine that I swear is going to make me smash my head into the wall She just came up with it this morning as an objection to her diaper beign wet..but apparently she's decided it's just a fun sound to use ALL the time. Thank goodness she's napping right now...

Still no teeth, no solids other than tastes/things she can gum on.
