I did it! I hired help!

A couple of nights ago in the shower, I had an epiphany. I decided right then and there that I needed a housekeeper. So I called the woman who cleans my offices for me and asked if she'd come clean my house, too. She came last night to visit and she starts Monday!! I am so thrilled. I cannot wait to come home after work on Monday to a CLEAN HOUSE!

In addition to the basics, she doesn't mind picking up the kids' toys, will do my laundry (happily) and she loves to paint! We need some painting done so that was very good to hear.

Anything else I should ask to see if she'll do? I'm thinking of the catbox, breaking down boxes for recycling, any leftover dirty dishes, etc. If I don't ask, I won't get it, right?

Anyway, I have a huge sigh of relief. I only hope coming once every other week is going to be enough! LOL!

I would not ask my housekeeper to paint because I rather her focus on cleaning other than that everything else sounds great. You will love it. For some reason though I am in a nesting mood while pregnant and I am using my house keeper less even though the ms - go figure

Barcino, the painting would be completely separate. That is, when we're ready to paint, we'd hire her to come do that on a completely different day(s). We have a lot to do and it's a big job!

Just saw this on new posts and wanted to say...way to go. I have someone just one morning a week, so it doesn't make a daily difference, but she does the jobs I dread and just don't have time for (she does all the floors, washing the bathrooms, windows, and we pick a room a week for her to wash the walls). i just love it.

Karen, what problems does your husband have with it? I know my dad has never let my mom get a housecleaner. He's totally weirded out by it. My dh, otoh, could care less. Just means less that he has to do! LOL!

Christina, I am very excited to have her do the deep cleaning. It's been months since I've mopped my wood floors (and we have mostly wood up and down). She's doing windows/doors every time. Bathrooms, kitchen, I can't wait! We'll have the weekend to pick up and give her "access" for when she comes on Mondays. I'm thinking of having her come weekly once the baby is born, too!
