If I had fancy fabric, I'd make a 'pocket prefold' and stuff it with not so fancy fabric- flannel, birdseye, twill, microfiber, ect. That way you don't waste your nicer stuff for the soaker part. I am making fitteds, and have organic cotton/hemp fleece to se on the inside. Instead of making 4-6 full layers of the expensive fabric, I make pocket fitteds, and just make them 2 layers-one layer oc/hemp fleece on the inside and cute flannel/woven on the outside. I leave the back open like a pocket diaper and use folded prefolds to stuff it. Or I'l sew up the back pocket and make snap in or sewn in doublers, with only the layer against babies skin being oc fleece, and the underside layers being flannel.
On diaperswappers.com, there are lots of instructions and tutorials. If you search on that site for bamboo velour pocket prefold, you'll find the mama who did hers with pics and I think with instructions. HTH!
