Stinky cutting mat!

I finally saved up and bought the big cutting mat at Joann's and it smells sooo bad. It is honestly stinking up my house. I left it out on the porch for a few nights and now it is a little warped and still stinky. I tried cleaning it with different cleaners and I'm not sure what to do.

Has anyone else had this happen? BTW it is pink on one side and yellow on the other. They had other colors so I'm not sure if they would be better, but now that mine is a little warped I'm worried they won't let me take it back.

So, does your mat stink as well?

I have an Olfa mat that has never had any kind of an odor. I'd totally take it back. Sounds like serious off-gassing going on. I kinda doubt it's the color...probably the plastic material itself. Good luck!

Thanks, where did you buy the Olfa mat from?

You can buy olfa at most independant quilt shops, or chains like JoAnn or Pacific Fabrics. Buy the biggest size that will fit your table. Mine never stunk either. You do have to store them flat so they don't warp.

My Olfa mat did stink for a while, but I think I'm pretty sensitive to smells. I opened the window and closed the door to the room for a week or so and it seemed to off gas enough in that time.
