Sick mamas check in here!

: Who's sick, has a cold, etc? It seems like a bunch of us have gotten sick in the last week...What are you doing about it?

I'm sick with what ds had last week. I thought maybe we could share what we're doing to take care of ourselves...I'm sure there are ideas and things you are all doing to take care of yourselves that I haven't thought of and vice versa. I can use all the help I can get right now since baby could arrive any day!

This is what I'm doing...
*lots of Vit C (in addition to Prenatals, Floradix and Amazing Green supplement I already take)
*Hot chicken broth by the mugful all day long
*alternating broth with hot water/lemon/honey combo
*Sleeping as much as possible
*Salt water gargle a few times a day/night
*Zicam mouth spray and other homeopathic tablets as needed
*Trying to remain optimistic and not get too crabby!

Please share your ideas and techniques! I'm about ready to break down and take a benadryl over here! (And I'm *very* anti-med...but just miserable

well, i don't thnk i'm sick with a virus, but i was up throwing up all night because of BAD heartburn:. i've just been "trying" to rest, and watch what i eat to keep the heartburn back. i've also had a handful of breakdowns today...don't know if that's helping or not:

Still sick - this cold is not moving too fast so it's not reached it's peak yet. I've never found anything to work for getting rid of them faster or making me feel better, so I am just trying to keep my mind off it. If I knew a Benadryl would help, I'd sure be tempted by one at this point, but I've never had any luck with this stuff when I have caved.

My last day of work is tomorrow and I'm sooo not productive at work these days. I must refresh the Nov DDC page about 10 times an hour.

Baby seems to want to wait and I'm fine with that since I don't want to be sick and dealing with a newborn.

I'm supposed to be doing something about feeling sick?

I'm just sitting here mouth-breathing, blowing my nose and surfing MDC in between naps. Neti pot can't put a dent in this sinus congestion.

Yesterday I did that shopping-as-nesting thing, running errands all over town (10 stops!) and totally kicked my butt. Today everything hurts - my head, my skin, my joints, ugh. I broke down and took one tylenol so I could get comfortable enough to nap. At least I'm feeding myself pretty well, which is always a challenge.

Baby doesn't seem to want to come anytime soon even though my EDD is in 2 days. That's good, actually - DH is getting over being sick and I'd like to be well too!

Hope we all feel better ASAP!

I got adjusted twice too but no dice; this bug is vicious!

I hope all goes well with the orientation for your fill-in. I guess he'll be pleasantly surprised when a "real" day isn't as hectic as what you'll be showing him!

I just bought a new homeopathic cold remedy but I think I have some oscillococcinum (Cold Calm, right?) in the medicine cabinet! I'm so glad you mentioned it :

Hooray for that last day of work! I'm glad these babies seem to be okay with waiting...

well i don't have a cold, per say.......but been very sick and saddened in regards to my dd's angry behavior lately. she just now slapped/hit/scratched at my face when i asked her to leave the baby's mattress in our new mini co-sleeper. she got just furious. she has been like this lately when she doesn't get what she wants or when she refuses to cooperate. its just awful. she's really hurting and not channeling her anger health-fully. she and i have discussed ways to channel her rage/anger before(like her whole life ). jeesh now she's yelling at the dumb chair as she just banged her hand on it. anyway, after she hit me, i sobbed on the floor and then went in to puke my guts out in the toilet. this is upsetting me sooo much it makes me sick. now she's snuggling w/ me, rubbing my shoulder/back. one moment she's sooo connective, the next she is detached and purely nasty. or just distant...won't let me in. the local domestic violence place has a counselor who does see kids but she is out this week and last...so that sucks for megh. i called the local county mental health dept and the lady is referring me to some kids center that specializes in kids coming from abusive situations. she is going to call me back and let me know the waiting list if there is one, or w/ an appt. i wnat my dd taken care of! why all this waiting!?!?! she is obviously disturbed!!! and i am sick from it...it is breaking my heart.

ugh. god i feel awful my dd is going thru this hell.:

feel better, sick mamas!!! soon!!!

Me. Sinus infection- AGAIN. And maybe Pixie's strep throat- who knows. :

She's upstairs right now past her bedtime, literally just SCREAMING in the bathroom because we asked her to brush her teeth. It's total insanity here lately. I'm worn out emotionally. This is going to be FUN FUN with a newborn. Ugh.

Well, Lis, at least you are taking advantage of the resources that are available...even with counseling it will take Megh a while to normalize her behavior, I'm sure. You did the right thing by getting out when you did. It was probably the best gift you could have given your kids (besides birthing them- obviously!) I hope you get in touch with someone soon.
