I'm not so sure that is even a requirement. I mean we're not kicking M out because she doesn't want to walk her beast of a dog.

I'm not sure if there is a turkey trot round these parts but darn it if I don't run 5 miles on thanksgiving then I might not make it this year before winter. Also about 10 years ago I suggested starting a 5km on thanksgiving trend. Dh agreed but he couldn't find a 5k-er. So I didn't find out until his friend picked us up that it was actually a 5 miler. Mind you at the time the longest I've ever run had been 1.8 miles. oy! But i made it. and now the longest I think I've ever run is about 6 miles. heck I SWAM 7 miles in a row one day in high school. : And now ladies, I must write write write. DH just submitted something to a conference in SLC in April and I really WANNA go meet Monikita. He just reminded me of it and I'm staying late tonight at work....go me. :

YAY! :

I'm not walking the giant. I picked up all of Livi's toys downstairs and put out 4 dog toys in all the areas he usually lays. I'm crossing my fingers that we don't find anything destroyed in the morning... Livi agreed that we will walk him in the morning.

And now, to bed. At 9:00 pm, that is a record early bedtime for me, but I can't even keep my eyes open. Or walk. I'm so sore...

I'm doing a turkey trot! An 8k. I do it every year, even last year at 8+ months pregnant. Granted I only ran about 15 minutes of it...but I did it. You may recall though that I couldn't move for two days afterward because of that weird pelvis thing...

Po7 I am thinking about you and your sweet one. I have a clotting disorder...I have to get checked in fact to see what's up with it. Peace and love to you...

callie~ You ain't so bad yourself! I can.not. believe you secretly signed up for a marathon! You are so my hero!

balancin~I went to Target yesterday too. What a madhouse. I commented to another shopper that it looked like some crazy doorbuster sale the day after Thanksgiving.

jaygee~How's the lack of boob tube going?

I've been thinking it would be cool if we came up with a dingo affirmation or mantra for all the dingoes running (or wishing to run for the those on the disabled list) on Turkey Day. Kind of a way to tie everyone together for the day. Obviously something involving being thankful would be appropriate but I'm open to anything.

Po7- thinking of you and your dd.

I ran 6.25 last night and it felt pretty good. I realized that I haven't done enough training on roads with hills lately. I'll need to do more of that in the next couple of weeks.

Can you get a callous under your toenail? I have a hard, white spot under my next-to-littlest toenail and it hurts. Any idea what it is or what I should do about it?

I get to meet Mamabeth and Mommabelle for coffee this morning and I'm excited about that!

Lots of cycling, walking and yoga here but no running. I wanted to try out a couple of different things to manage the asthma annoying-ness but then our van needed $2500 worth of repair last month so there went any spare change (as if ) for new running shoes and I won't risk hurting my knees or back by running in shoes that are - I am afraid to admit how old they are - but definitely older than many Dingo children. I think I bought them before getting lost in the blizzard a couple of winters ago : I fell down the stairs a few nights ago and wrenched my hip and back, so I think yoga is in order this morning.

Hey guys! New month, so I figured it was time to quit being MIA. Life has been crazy (what else is new, huh?)

Goals include getting back into a regular routine. I'm not going to train for anything for a little while, I think, but just get back to running for fun and sticking to a schedule. Perhaps substituting a little cross training (no, not that kind to keep my running feeling fresh.

I have a bunch of life stressors right now, and even thinking about writing them out makes me feel more stressed, so suffice it to say, mama really, really needs a run.

Balancin1 - I take it you are not running this Sunday?

Pof7 - Good luck with the appointments. I'm not sure what you're dealing with as I think they may have not quite told you the right lab values (PT, or pro-time usually ranges in the low 2 digits, like a normal around 12 or something, but there a something called the INR related to PT in which the normal is 1.0, so maybe they were talking about that?) I hope they can give you answer very soon.

I haven't been keeping up well enough for more personals. Just know I've missed you all and am hoping to keep up better!

Pity we can't send my male dog to come chase your big dog and tire them both out. I think you deserved to take it easy!

I love this idea! I agree Big Red looked like a doorbuster sale. It was CRAZY!

Oh no, Shanti! I hope you are OK!

So, how'd I miss Callie signing up for a marathon? : WTG!

Megs--your explanation of stairs makes perfect sense to me, and explains why landing on my ankle going down is so much worse than going up. I just always think that with gravity and all it should be harder work going up so it always baffles me that the strain on muscles can outweigh that...

I skipped the ibuprofen last night and am a little swollen this morning, but I'm mobile. I thought the ankle was going to be a lot worse than it is turning out to be, but boy is it annoying!

Jen, how is it that we can always end up posting at the same time? I'm out for Sunday, but was going to call you...

The PT number is the one they were worried about. It was 1.1 and they said it should be 2.5-3.0. I did read the same thing on line that you are saying that the INR should be 1.0. I don't know what to think. I'm hoping that it is just some confusion in lab numbers, but they do deal with young children and tonsilectomies and bloodwork all the time.

I was stressed last night, but I'm calmer now. My dd is very healthy...hardly gets sick....doesn't bruise easily or bleed too much. I'm sure it's no big deal.

thinking about po7's dd this morning.

nice to see you everyone who is back.

target. hmm. hopefully not a zoo later today as I need a few items (and my work today is close to target so I'm on duty for that).

Ah, I love Target. Haven't been in a while. Probably just as well.

Balancin, one of my profs is doing his major research into knee pain in women (more adolescent athletes, but the principles apply to us older gals, too). He's finding some really interesting stuff -- kinda shaking up the world of PT, actually -- and one of the big tests they did was to have people step off an 8" block to analyze how they did it. I won't go into details here (ssssnore!) but if you want any more random info about good body mechanics, just PM me or somethin'.

Po7, your DD is in my thoughts. I hope the tests are "unremarkable"!

I'm glad it's Friday. Busy weekend ahead, though. Two group projects/presentations due next week. I'm not much of a fan of group projects. I dominate (or try to) just a little bit, so I don't know if groups like me much, either. No worries, though. I've learned how to tone it down a bit over the years. Someone has to get the ball rolling, right?

Alright, i'm going to mess around with PowerPoint a little bit. Y'all have nice days.

Of that there's no doubt. If I ever need a PT I'm coming to you! I love doctors with passion!

Thank you for posting that Wendy, I think I might need to start there, if only for the discipline of the schedule.

That's awesome. I nominate Monica to come up with the wording.

Speaking of affirmations, my mom did actually read the book, but her book report consisted of, "Well obviously there's nothing new here, I looked to see when it was written, 1984, so there you go. In any case I think it is irresponsible to blame someone for their cancer, sometimes people just get sick." Well, you can lead a horse to water.... But she's a psychotherapist and already knows everything, I should have remembered that. (No slights intended towards the lovely therapist Dingos!

CherylAnn - If you're lurking, I thought of you last night when I surfed past Ugly Betty and saw the Defying Gravity scene from Wicked.

Oh! I also watched that Marathon show online (how I the internet!) and I was teary eyed at the end too. I was imagining Kate~Mom coming across that line with all of us there cheering and well, tears. : Don't y'all want to go get hooked up to one of those VO2 machines and also have one of those crazy body scans?

Kerc - When in April? I just check our route between Laredo TX and Anacortes WA and it takes us right through SLC. We're planning on heading that way in April. It would be fun to have a mini-meetup then!

Mandy - I gave the Swiffer cover to my friend and she LOVES it! She laughed so hard at first because I wasn't there when she opened it and she didn't read my note first. She was trying to figure out which body part it was for. But once she read the note she said the sheer genius of it "knocked her over". She also thought it was awesome that you are in VT as she is from NH. So add her to your Very Happy Customer list!

you know the scientist in me thought the same exact thing. And then I saw a bumper sticker I absolutely love:

think good thoughts. words become actions. actions become habits. habits become character. character becomes destiny.

I tend to think of the affirmation book as a nice source for the good words.

On the flip side, in my classes I have a rule: No one may say "I'm no good at...." When I get arguments over it I state strongly: If you say it over and over again, you're just going to convince yourself of it.

that is SO good for me to remember. i am teaching a rather challenging class this semester [challenging for me too] and the students get so wrapped up in how they think they can't do it, when actually they can do it, it just takes work! i'm stealing this from you. :

i am nervous for my race tomorrow, but alas it is a 5k so i know i can do it. i just want to do a little better than my last 5k which was, oh , nearly a year ago. :

moonshine - the NY marathon is this weekend? i just read katie holmes will be running it as well as lance armstrong, again. don't know if you are on the route for viewing or not.
