Mind sharing which homeopathic remedies you used for the afterpains?? I usually get pretty dazed with them afterwards!
I'm researching that myself, actually, because the ones I'm taking aren't really helping the way I hoped.

Aconite - shock, for mother and baby right after birth
Arnica - bruising & swelling
Hypericum - nerve pain

I need to get Ignatia for the emotional aspect of it.

I also have Clary Sage Essential Oil for the pains, but I don't know if they really do the job with after pains the way they do w/ monthly cycle cramps. You know? I'm trying them anyway.

I'm also taking Tylenol because they're so strong. That is probably the scariest part for me because it reminds me of when I was contracting and pushing which resulted in being scared and losing focus. Therefore, I need the Ignatia.

The transition/pushing is what sent me over the edge with my son, a hospital birth. I had a painless labor up till then, felt the contractions but they did not hurt, just where strong. Finally went to the hospital, was checked, was at 7, hit transition, and baby was in my arms 20 minutes after. Boy though, those 20 minutes I was out of my mind...... the after pains made me really scared that there was another baby coming even. I think I really understand some of what it must have been like and I really needed the reminder as maybe if I expect the crazy time it will not be so hard this time.

Thank you so so very much and big congrats. It means so much you would share your story and pictures!

OMG, yes! Those last minutes were just.... OMG. I didn't get that w/ Rachel's birth. They came so fast and were so strong I couldn't get control of it or deal with it appropriately. Of course, once his head was out I was fine. I knew that the rest of him would come out soon and it was ok. I even, somehow, had the presence of mind to beep his little nose when I felt around his head.

Welcome baby Thomas!!!!

::::

And congratulations, Mama! I just love reading homebirth and UC birth stories...it's like I can't get enough of them. I guess I'm trying to birth vicariously! Really, it sounds like you had a great experience. I'm happy for you!
