so um. since my little one was born i have been having some pee issues. well i didn't have them right away but maybe a litle while after not sure how much of a little while because the concept of time is a bit um hard for me to grasp right now. anyhow i am wondering if some amount of pee issues are normal and if anyone else is having issues with pee.

i am not talking about the normal stinging but when i go to put water in my peri bottle the sound of water makes it very very hard for me to not just pee immediately. i have not been able to completely hold it in every time. sometimes i just hop or more like very very carefully climb into the shower and take a nice warm shower and pee while the water is running. the first day or so i was unable to get to the bathroom because i physically just couldn't move more than a foot or so from the bed but my midwifes had a set up for me and my partner was able to change stuff and clean things so i could just kinda climb next to the bed and pee on chux pad things. having a baby can be very humbling. then after a day or so i was able to slowly make my way to the bathroom and pee in the shower mostly standing and finally i was able to sit on the toilet and pee has been kinda normal besides stinging and well the whole sound of running water thing.
is anyone else having pee issues? i have never really needed to do kegals and i really don't feel up to doing them now but i have been doing them a little here and there.

this is a long ramble and i have already sat up more today than i should. i have not been reading much online so am not that up to date with ddc stuff but i hope everyone here is doing well and i will try and catch up and post a birth story when i find energy and time. seems like whenever i am awake i am nursing my son and if not then i am trying to eat something and drink enough fluids and if i am not doing those things i am asleep. ok time for me to sleep before he wakes up hungry

So sorry you're having troubles, mama! I will share my own TMI... I didn't have major tearing this time, but had one little "skin split" that went up - near the urethra. We chose not to even stitch it, but my MWs said it would really sting. Sure enough, the first time I was able to pee that night it stung horribly (even with a peri bottle squirting at the same time to dilute) - but I was glad I'd skipped having a catheter!

After that, I only peed in a warm tub, and still very carefully. I think using the shower and/or tub can be a wonderful way to get through those first few days (or longer, depending on what you need!). By the 2nd or 3rd day I was able to "graduate" to a regular toilet and the peri bottle. But, if just filling the peri bottle is causing problems for you, then I'd consider sticking to the tub - where it's totally okay to go as the water runs!

Of course, being unable to hold your bladder while you hear running water can definitely cause trouble! (Just as far as convenience and practical matters.) You should, absolutely, be doing A LOT of Kegels! It's really, really important for helping your organs heal AND stay in the right place. My MW had me start doing them the morning after he was born, and do as many as possible. Seriously, do them all day! If you think of it, do it. This will definitely help with being able to control your bladder better. It's also possible to have some degree of cystocele. Some say surgery is needed to correct it, but after talking with my MW about it, I learned that most cases can be corrected with major work on - you guessed it - kegels! You can Google for more information and symptoms, but kegeling is the best thing to fix it, if that's what it is.

Hope you are feeling MUCH better soon, mama!

I had problems with leaks when it came to sneezing and coughing. I had to run to the toilet immediately when I felt the urge to go.

The Child health nurse asked me if I was having any bladder issues and I told her that I did but was working on kegels.

She told me that if things didn't improve soon that I should go see the physiotherapist from the hospital I attended for specific pelvic floor exercises or my doctor.

Luckily for me the kegels helped strengthened things and I didn't need any further help. I still get the occassional oops when I have a sudden violent sneeze.

My bladder isn't the same as it was before childbirth but it has improved from the days preceding childbirth.

Give yourself a bit of time, after all you did birth a baby, but if after doing kegels and some weeks have gone by with no improvement I would go and seek some advice ... maybe a physiotherapist or a doctor?
