Kefir and animals

My dog had an ear infection about 2 yrs ago. Tests showed it was yeast and bacteria. We just noticed that she has another infection. I'm wondering whether giving her occasional kefir would help prevent these infections?? I know that a dog's GI tract is much shorter than ours so maybe it wouldn't do much good. Anyone have an info or experience?

I don't have an answer for you, but I know my dog **loves** kefir. I cannot imagine that it's harming in anyway so I let him drink it. I do notice that his coat looks fantastic lately.

My dogs love kefir too. I usually give them any extra grains that we have. They get excited. I also let them lick out the strainer when I'm done with it.

Thanks for your replies! I'll give it a try. Even if it doesn't prevent the ear infections, it sounds like it will be good for her health!
