Calling dr... *Update*

....cause I haven't felt the baby move today. Is that over paranoid? It is 11:06am here. I've never had a NST or anything but is that what they will tell me? I am at home alone with an 8 year old with strep. If I call they will tell me to come in eh?

I think it would make you feel much better. Is there anyone who can watch your babe while you head out for an NST?

Also, have you tried all the tricks like poking and prodding, noise, guzzling ice cold water and consuming something sweet?

Call and get some peace of mind. They will most likely ask you to drink some oj or something else sweet, eat something and lay down to see if that gets the baby moving. If not, or you are still noticing decreased movement then yes, they should ask you to come in for an NST. Try to line something up for care simply because they may monitor you for a while. Ours lasted about 45 minutes.

I wouldn't panic, but I would say to call your attendant, or your Dr. if you're going unassisted. I hope everything is okay mama! Good vibes coming your way.

I would try all the tricks first. As we get close to the end it's normal for the babies not to move so much. I noticed yesterday evening that I hadn't felt my baby move ALL day. So, I drank some grape juice, then laid on my left side for awhile. Nothing. Poked and prodded her, talked to her, asked her to move for me. Nothing. I was getting ready to call the mw. But then after about 20 min. of laying there she started to have hiccups and then about 5 min. later, some teeny tiny movements. I decided to just wait and watch and she started moving more later on in the evening. It's a bit scary though. If you try everything and your babe still hasn't moved at all, then I would definitely call and go in for an NST.

My mw said I might only feel movement once a day now. Niklas however reminds me of his presence plenty and is very active.
With my last two I barely felt anything twds the end.

It's probably nothing you need to worry about but when in doubt I would always call the Dr and do whatever they recommend. Better than risking something...
Good luck, give us an update.

Dr said to have something sweet, lay down, count either 3 kicks in 30 minutes or 5 kicks in an hour and if not, call them back. I'm just glad to be able to lay down.

Please try the tricks and then call. Also check out this link regarding baby movements and kick counting...

Thanks! I think part of my paranoia came from this weeks stupid sono. Everything was "ok", but borderline. Fluid was just barely ok, they buzzed her twice to get her to move, then it was slight, but she moved to it was "ok", then they couldnt detect her breathing, finally after sono tech was getting visibly freaked, she decided the babies diaphram was moving "enough". Everything was just okay enough to say it was ok, but still enough that now when she is so quiet, I get worried.

An NST is a piece of cake and will put you at ease. If the kick counting doesn't eliminate your anxiety, definitely go in and get the NST. A lot of us have been there... I call it my 35-week freak out, because that's when I had it with both pregnancies.

So I go in for a NST, first one ever. I sit down in the chair, babies heart rate starts tickin about 125 or so. 20 minutes, no spikes, no movement, notta. Nurse comes in and looks at the strips and says...Um, do you know you are having contractions every 5 minutes, like clockwork? Me: sort of but they don't really hurt too bad. She says, well I don't want to alarm you, but we didn't get the response we wanted, and I am wondering if the Dr will want to admit you since you are having regular contractions. SO I get sent for a bio-physical profile via sono, and everything with the baby checks out perfectly. Whew! Then I talk with the Dr and luckily the Dr that we grabbed out of the hall to look at everything is the least intervention happy one of the bunch. She says....they don't hurt? I say, nope, not much. Ok, go home and if they start hurting, become closer together, then head into L&D.

So home I am! The whole trip was worth the nurse, whom I cant STAND, saying...um, ya know your contractions are 5 minutes apart?

Whew! I hope you feel better I'm glad they told you to go home since everything is okay! I had a freak-out like this a few weeks ago (baby not moving much despite everything I did) and when I went in for the NST everything was fine! It's always better to know for sure that everything is okay than to find out too late that it wasn't.

Glad to hear all is well and your getting so close! It's always nice to hear that everything is okay.

They don't Zap it...lol. They just have a little thing that makes sound to stimulate the baby with noise. Kind of like my 8 yead old that like to run up and yell...BABY! to my tummy and laugh when she jumps inside. Except the Drs thingamajig makes a little buzzing sound. I, personally, think the OB would be much more fun if the Drs ran in and yelled BABY! to get them to move around.
