well, we have less than an inch of snow...but yesterday morning it was 9 degrees (yup, 20 below freezing!) and it only warmed up to around 12 in midday. With the wind chill it was around -20 I heard...
WHEW!!!
Yay for fleece and babywearing (sharing body heat), and plain old staying in! LOL

Snowing today!! Looking at 1-3 inches possible I'm guessing it will stick around through tomorrow, but then there's rain in the forecast another day or two after that.

Kids and I will definitely go out to play in a couple hours, after it's accumulated a bit, despite not having any winter boots yet for anyone, lol. Hopefully it won't be deep enough to get past their shoes.

Woo hoo! Snow here too!

So, I love my missionaries. Last time we had transfers, we were pretty sure one of them going (the one who'd been there the longest). We were all really shocked when they both got to stay. So they've been preparing me for one or (more likely) both of them leaving this time. I was NOT looking forward to it. They said neither of them have heard of anyone being at one place as long as they have, so they were pretty sure they're both going. I told them I was going to pray REALLY hard that they get to stay.

They called me yesterday (I'm out of town at my MIL's) and said I must be praying super hard...they're both staying! I'm sooo excited because I have my baptism interview on Sunday and it would be so great if I got approval and they got to be there for my baptism. It just wouldn't be right if they weren't there. Woo hoo for the power of prayer!

So we have snow too! Going on 2 or 3 inches! This is pretty early for here. It's very lovely.

Yay, Moonprism about your missionaries. Hope they can be there for baptism.

Aw, that got me all teary! I'm so happy you get to have your missionaries there for you. That is such a sweet blessing. A tender mercy, for sure.

My mom sent my birthday present a little early: a wad of cash and a copy of Twilight. So I'm joining the legions and reading the book. I'm about 60 pages into it and can see it being rather addicting.

Aww Tiffani- Here's hoping you get your baptism wishes!

Thank you guys. I'm really hoping it's a sign that my baptism is close, that they've been here with me for so long.

i'm just not that into Twilight. it was good, don't get me wrong! i do want to read the other ones. i am just the queen of addiction and obsession when it comes to books and this is no where near the caliber of Tolkien or Potter on my radar. not even the first 3 books of The Wheel of Time. still, good book. i can't wait to get my grubby hands on the second one. just not a fanatic. i actually had the choice to pick up the 2nd one or the Golden Compass and the latter is the one sitting on my nightstand as i type this.

and i'm ashamed to admit even that : my 14 year old sister is a bonified addict.

... but i wouldn't mind taking Edward home with me...

funny thing- Bella and i are a lot alike. the absent minded mom (to put it nicely) and the whole leaving the sunny southwest to move to rainy Washington (Pt. Roberts for me) and stay with a relative. yeah, my favorite color is even brown. maybe that's where i got caught up? i kept seeing my time in Washington every time i read it. hmmmm

I would recommend taking the cash now - tonight - to an all-night bookstore and buying New Moon and Eclipse. Because you're going to need them tomorrow. And then you're going to get sick from staying up all night to read New Moon. (Not that I would know from personal experience or anything.)

Um, that would be me that is obsessed, not Mags. She's not the one who considered renaming her newborn Edward. Oops, did I say that out loud? : (OK, I didn't REALLY consider renaming him.)

As a young pre-pre-teen girl I was in love with Wesley off of Star Trek and named three cats after him. I vowed to name a child of mine Wesley, but it never worked out. He became replaced as I matured... but I still think back and remember him as dashing. :

Good thing you gave the warning. My mommy brain coupled with being tired may have caused me to not get it! I knew your kids' middle names, but since you've taken them out of your signature, I might have forgotten, lol.

Lilith Luthien. Mable Mirkwood. Olive Onodrim.

i had originally wanted to go with Tolkien FIRST names but DH wouldn't have it. then i thought Harry Potter first names Tolkien middle and that was a no go, too. but DH does now want to name our boy (yeah like that's ever going to happen) Albus whereas i am partial to Romulus because i love me some Star Trek.

and on a more serious note...

i am having the hardest time going to church. the crap going on in my home and marriage are really weighing me down and now i just have no want at all to go to church. as a matter of fact all i feel is this extreme push against me going. i don't feel welcome there.

Well, the intellectual level of LoTR is quite a bit higher than the intellectual level of Twlight! So that's not so bad.

But then I see that you thought of HP names, and I think that is a lot closer in intellectual-ness to Twilight.

Is there a specific reason or problem?
