Dh is in the ER

He smashed his finger between some paving stones at Home Depot.

Once I'm sure he's alright, I'm going to wring his neck. His list today did not include going to Home Depot... It did include taking a whole bunch of stuff up into the attic, bringing the heating pads out of the attic, helping me prepare food/bake some vegan, no soy stuff for my henna party tomorrow, and helping me and the girls make 2 pregnant belly masks.

Tonight's my last opportunity to do the belly masks... I'm getting my belly henna'd tomorrow and the plaster would ruin it... Paying too much money to ruin it...

All of these things are just my own little pity party...we're not going to talk about how much typing dh needs to do in the next few weeks to analyze data and write his dissertation.

Not to mention just regular childcare duties...and being my birth partner...

Can't you put some plastic over your belly to do the belly masks without ruining the henna? Otherwise, the NERVE of your DH to injure himself. Seriously.

OH - I would be so annoyed, and probably not offer my Dh once ounce of sympathy in that situation. Especially since Home Depot wasn't even on the errand list!

Hope his finger feels better FAST for you, mama!

Oh no! (that was from me to you for your DH). My DH went to home depot yesterday for a lightbulb and spent $80 on crap, all of which is on the dining room table.

I would tell your DH that the universe is punishing him for not sticking to his list!

Oh- and can I come to your henna party? It sounds like so much fun!

Oh! What a great idea! Thank you!

And, yeah...I can't believe his nerve, either!

If you don't mind the drive down to Connecticut...I would LOVE to have you there! I wish that our entire DDC could be there!

: Sock him one for me, would ya? My dh said "that's gotta be an embarassing thing to do at Home Depot..." Well, maybe your dh learned his lesson?! I hope he heals fast and is able to be there for you...

Thanks, Mamas. Poor dh is in a lot of pain and is really, really mad at himself... Our house was built in 1926 and renovation (mostly done by dh) is a continuous process. His latest projects (when he is home) include the front and back yard. We've eliminated the "lawns" and have changed the landscaping to include native stuff, etc. He was going to try to finish up these little paths in the front yard, so he could move the gravel out of our driveway (and off of the neighbor's fence) before the weather turns.

He's just doing too much. But, he insists that it's relaxing for him to take a break from his research, etc, and focus on some physical work that improves our home. He has done amazing work in our house...from demolition to electrical wiring to installing beautiful Mexican tiles around the inside of our front door. I didn't mean to make him out to be a blumbering idiot at the Home Depot. He's wonderful and devoted to doing whatever has to be done for his family and is good at just about everything...

BUT, I'm still pissed off at him for breaking his #@&% finger right now, of all times!:

He can barely snap dd2's diapers, and he's completely stressed out about work, deadlines, etc. I offered to type stuff up for him, but, apparently there is special coding and it would take him just as long to single-finger-type it as it would to teach me the right keystrokes, etc.

BLAH.

Well, guys get to have pregnant clumsy moments too, right? I feel sorry for him and you. I am sure once the pain is going away he'll figure out how to use the hand to help you a bit better.
Good luck with everything!

Sounds like male nesting gone awry. Sorry to hear it.... hopefully baby will hang on long enough to let his finger heal so he can get in his full share of diaper changes!

The plastic sounds like a great solution to the henna problem. Enjoy your party!!!
