shopping habits

i was talking to my mom the other day and she applauded me for going to the farmers market every week with two babies in tow, saying she couldn't have done it. it made me stop and think how much my shopping habits have changed in the last two years. pre-tf I was annoyed any week tj's didn't have everything i wanted so that i had to go two places. now i go to the farmers market every week, get milk and beef delivered every three weeks, drive an hour to a chicken farm a couple times in the summer, go to tj's once a week and whole foods every other week. though if i planned better, i think i could cut those last two down to once or twice a month which would be nice.

how have your shopping habits changed?

I think the biggest change is going to the farmer's market every week. I haven't been very good about it lately but a few years back going to the farmer's market was a once in a while thing.

I wish we had a year round farmer's market. As it is, it closes in November and it doesn't reopen until April.

My MIL thinks I'm a total freak for my shopping habits. But she doesn't say anything because I typically drop DD off at their place while I do it, and they just love that so it all works out.

My shopping goes like this: farm stand for the bulk of my veggies, then a farm market up the peninsula for remaining veg, tree fruit and frozen berries, a locally-owned supermarket for meat, the bulk store next door to that for beans etc. and eggs (for some reason they currently have the best eggs in town), then the butcher shop for more meat, then the charcuterie for sausages, ham and cheese. Then I might his the regular grocery for flour or toilet paper or whatnot. I'm a shopaholic, just not the conventional kind.
