Tasty nesting

Mmmmmm, today has been a tasty day of nesting. I made:

Crepes with blueberry sauce for breakfast

Caramel cinnamon rolls are in the oven for desert (seriously, who can call that healthy breakfast? )

Brisket that was started in the crock pot at 9 this morning with a dry rub, served au jus.

Oatmeal batter bread with honey butter.

Once I get all my measuring utensils clean, I'll probably make some of that dang microwave chocolate pudding that I'm so addicted to.

Anyone else just go overboard in their kitchen?

Yes. All I've been doing is cooking lately. Dh keeps telling me that our freezer is bursting, why don't we eat something from there? And I just have this crazy urge to cook and make lots and lots of everything.

Not unless you count cleaning it... I got my kitchen and my pantry cleaned and organized today. Ok, so I had some help from a friend, but I can actually find things and get to things and not have to worry about dragging out a bunch of stuff just to get to what I need.

Oh, I did make enough chicken picatta to serve everyone and put some in the freezer. It wasn't from scratch though... I just discovered Trader Joe's simmering sauces!

Mmmm...that sounds good.

Want to come to my house? I love to cook but I've been in a cooking slump lately. Nothing sounds good to me at all...except for what other people make.

I'm on my way!

Man, I've had no desire whatsoever to cook! I wish I did. I just hate food. This pregnancy hasn't been good for me in the food department and I can't wait to be able to eat normally again. I think I'm guilty of sharing the microwave chocolate pudding though. And I usually indulge myself in a whole recipe worth of that pudding once a week or so (oh yes, in one sitting, by myself!) I've backed off on the cornstarch though, don't like it so thick (just do 2 T. instead of 3 T.) Mmmmm....

Oh, yum! I haven't felt like cooking or baking at all, and am mainly interested in comfort foods right now. But cinnamon rolls! Umm! I could go for a cinnamon roll. Are they hard to make? Care to post the recipe?

Not hard to make (especially if you have a mixer with a bread hook), but you'll be utterly shocked at the amount of butter required for the caramel sauce.

I'll try and get the recipe up here tomorrow, it's in the Betty Crocker cookbook.

i've gone way overboard. i'm a cook, though, so if i were going to obsess over one thing, it was likely to be this. our fridge and freezer are both packed!

I made some chocolate ricotta muffins and they were fantastic, if I do say so myself!

Every time I read this I think it says Nasty Testing and I think, "What? That sounds pretty crappy. Who wants a nasty test?"

And the "crepes" was "creeps." :

:

No, baby on the outside has not helped the brain donor situation.

I'll be over your house soon -- I never pass up TASTY anything.

Sounds like Halloween has crept into your brain and stayed there.

I'm doing some cooking today... being done with work seems to have freed some of my energy. That and not having any other serious prep work to do. So far today I have made more RRL tea and some hummus. I just baked a squash to make corn/squash muffins to go with chili sometime this week. I'm going to make some spiced cauliflower for hubby and kiddo to munch on while watching football later... and I might start the chili today.

Chocolate ricotta muffins sound killer. I have realized that I can't trust myself around any sweets right now, though.

Ok, so, I am realizing now how very nuts I got in the kitchen the other day. These aren't simple at all :

But here's the Caramel Pecan Rolls recipe. Walnuts are *ok* but pecans are really just the thing.
You are nuts!

But I've been baking a lot lately too. Mainly using up the apples that we have from picking. Made crisp last week and ate the entire pan by myself (which did not help with a 4 lb weight gain in one week tonight I am making apple bread but it's better because it's low fat and I won't eat the whole pan!

Do you happen to have the apple bread recipe handy? I'm down to only a half a loaf of the banana bread left and I froze most of the muffins to keep them away from me.

Screw cleaning! This is a much more fun mode of nesting!
