Okay, y'all, we finally have Silas' birth video ready. Let me explain a few things:
I was planning a water birth like I've had in the past, but the intensity and speed of this labor combined with the water just wasn't working for me. So, I decided to birth on the toilet. It felt sooo much better for some reason.
The girl in the bathtub is a brand-new assistant to my midwife. She looks like she isn't doing anything but she is...she's learning.
Note to all midwives and doulas: watch what you tell your labroing ladies while they're in transition. My MW told me, "once the water bag breaks the baby will come out soon after". I heard it as, "get this damned water bag out so I can see my baby!". This explains why I'm talking about the bag of waters throughout.
This video isn't really graphic, but there's a shot or two that you might not want your SO or child or grandma or whoever to see. Just warning you.
I can't believe how Southern I am. I honestly don't talk with such an accent in real life, but tequila and labor (not at the same time, of course) seem to bring out the best of my roots.
It's about 12 minutes long, I think.
Enjoy! (this video sponsored by Gatorade
