well I just got a cute knit (wool) soaker but I want to learn how to knit. First I am left handed and I have no one to teach me. Where can I learn? Also are soakers hard to knit are are they a good first project? Where do I find wool for knitting?

I am a crocheter, not a knitter, but have one piece of advice for you - you can learn to knit from a rightie or a leftie. If you learn from a rightie, just sit across from her and mirror her!
There are learn-to-knit books at craft stores, and sometimes they offer lessons, too. Knitting/yarn stores usually offer lessons, and so do libraries or park districts. My mom has taught knitting at most of these places at one time or another (yet I never learned how to knit - funny, huh?).

Pick up a kids knitting book from the library- it's pretty easy to teach yourself.

I just finished my first LTK soaker
And it was pretty easy. I know I made a few small mistakes along the way, but they don't really show, so I'm pleased with it. It's been at least 10 years since I've knit anything (and I never really finished anything then
: ). Since it was mostly straight knitting because it was on the round, I would say that it would be a good first project. I can't help you with the leftie problem, but I bet Momof3labs has the right idea (pardon the pun - I really didn't see it until I typed it).Good Luck!

I am about half way through with crocheting my first soaker and it is coming out unbelievably well! I am also left handed and it wasnt too hard for me to learn to crochet from a righty.
I am going to have my mom teach me how to knit next week when I go home to visit. But using the single chain row the weave comes out much like knitting.
I got the yarn at Michaels it is Lions Brand Fishermans wool -- 100% virgin wool.
Good luck -- I am having a lot of fun with it.
