I think the quick version of why-iron-can-be-bad is that in anyone that doesn't menstruate, it's easy to get high levels of iron. Eat much red meat and voila! You're nowhere near anemic. Now, why this can be bad is that iron outside the body oxidizes (it rusts). We all know that anti-oxidants keep us healthy... because too much oxidation is bad. Well, apparently iron inside the body is prone to rusting, too. Which can cause heart problems and... stuff. I don't remember details. I think Dr. Mercola has info on this, but I know not where.

I wonder if I need to worry about iron? I've been pregnant or nursing forever. I only had a few cycles before I got pregnant again. I think I've had a grand total of 12 cycles since late 2002. I had my pregnancy labwork done and I was solidly in the good range, though... not over it...
