Good point, Madrone, about Jesse Ventura....I hadn't thought of that. Since I didn't live in Minnesota, I didn't pay much attention to that race. Also, my knowledge of politics has only recently grown. Since I do live in California...I am watching THIS situation much more closely.
The recall is scheduled to be in October, unless Gray Davis wins his lawsuit to stop the special election. At that time the ballots will have two parts; 1.) whether the election of Davis to the Governor's office should be recalled, and 2.) who should be elected to replace Davis. The first part, whichever gets the most votes, yes or no, decides that question. If "Yes" wins then whoever got the most votes in the second question will be the new Governor for the remainder of the term. If "No" wins the first question, then the second part is moot.
It's an interesting process. Yes, I wondered wether the "distraction" of Flynt's running would be an issue. However, I'm certain that he will be taken very seriously by some people. He's not a dumb man, I'm just not certain that he is properly prepared to turn the troubles of this state around. For that matter, really, it's tough to say who is. To me, Flynt is not an option. If the election were to happen tomorrow...I would have a tough choice as yet. Luckily, people are just now beginning to throw their hats in the ring. The next "big one" is tonight when Schwarzenegger announces on Leno what he has decided. I'm not sure about him, either, though I know he is a moderate Republican. I tend to favor moderates of any party rather than extremists either way.
