When will you/did you tell people?

This is my first, and although not planned we are super excited about it, and getting more excited by the day! I want to tell the world! So far we've told our parents & siblings, I told 2 college friends and 4 local friends (we were in a wedding together and I had to explain to them why I wasn't drinking with them!) , and my boss.
How long did you wait to tell people, and how important do you think it is to wait??

we told our kids this weekend, but they were like "eh,ok" and went back to what ever they were doing before.

we are telling our parents and grandparents and the rest of the family at thanksgiving. we won't be going on the family yearly camping trip this year so we need to tell them early so they don't reserve spots for us, this camping spot is so crazy booked early like beginning of December for a July trip.. :

as for everyone else, I figure it will be pretty easy to figure out soon enough anyway.

I'm thinking that after the new year will be a good time to tell family, though it may come before the winter holidays if I can't keep quite that long.

I'm not telling dd until after thanksgiving, because my mom will be in town for a week and we'll have family over for the meal -- it'd be impossible to keep her quite.

i don't know. i can't remember how long we waited with the kids?? lol with the baby i miscarried, we waited untill about 6 weeks to tell close kids/friends/family and i think about 9 weeks to tell other family. i wish i would have waited as it was the hardes thing ever to tell them all i miscarried. (esp the kids )

so taking that into consideration, i think we'll wait for a while yet. i don't want to, but i don't want to go through that again.

I've only told my sister

and am obviously coming clean here :

We're not going to say anything to family/children until 8-12 weeks.

I'll let everyone know at work, but that's only because of safety reasons. I'm a nurse, and can't take care of certian patients if preggers.

I'm more of a private person, so I usually only tell my sisters and Mom after we find out. In the event of a loss I don't really want to share with the whole world. I like to wait until closer to the 12 week mark, but it seems to get earlier with each one. Our first we waited until 13 weeks, even for family. With our second I told my family right away and DH told his family at about 8 weeks. We waited until later for everybody else.

I guess generally the closer we are to people the earlier we share.

This time around our 4 yr old gets the idea, so I think we may tell her over the coming weekend and I also feel she will generally understand if something does go wrong.(with proper explanation of course) I like for my children to know about the processes of life, love, loss, etc. and try to be open with them about it.

I've told my parents and my husband told his mother. I also told my sister and two best girlfriend's (who are both pregnant right now). Whoever else finds out will, I mean, this is our third so people are totally not shocked anymore

But face to face, no one. We will wait a at least a month. We want to wait until December, but it would be to nice to get a few nursing maternity shirts for Christmas. :-)

We waited until 10 weeks with my son, and my DH told his mom by accident and then I had to tell my parents since they live in the next town and they all have BIG MOUTHS. haha.
I didn't tell my friends or work people until 15 weeks even though I was BUSTING out of my real clothes already.

I just found out last night and I only told my best friend and husband. We plan on telling family at Thanksgiving dinner. Should be exciting His family is pretty old fashioned and we just got married last week lol so we are waiting til Thanksgiving lol

yeah. there was no way i could not tell. dd had the neighbor girl over when i found out and it killed me to wait till she went home to tell the kids. but i had to tell them before i told anyone else.

i haven't told anyone like, my neighbors yet, but i told my kids, my parents, and my two bffs. oh, and dp, lolz. he was the first to know.

i've only told people that i'm close enough with that i would want them to know if something went wrong early. so, my sis, parents, bffs, and grandma. i let dh decide who he wants to tell and when, as far as ppl who play big parts in his life. as soon as we get to the 3mos mark, it's fair game to let the cat out of the bag to anyone/everyone.

I called my husband at work to let him know.
And I told people in last year's August DDC club.
And here of course.
I'll probably wait until the holidays to tell everyone else. Depending on how obvious it is or not I suppose I might tell sooner.

No one except dh and I know....I called him at work and told him! He freaked!

Next will be either my cousin, she is already giving me the 3rd degree! We are really close, like sisters so she knows when things are a little "off" with me....or my mom.

I have an appt. with my m/w the second week of Dec. I should be a little past 10 weeks, so we should get a heartbeat with the doppler. I plan to (if we get one) record the heartbeat on my cell and then play it back for her when I get home. I was going to just go ahead and tell her because she is usually my babysitter but I noticed on her calender that she has an appt. that same day at the same time so dh said he would go into work late.

I may change my mind though because my mom is not good at keeping secrets! Although she may not have to hide it very much longer! Tonight I look so big! I am sure i am just bloated though!

I'm 5 weeks, and so far I've told:

DH

my boss (way ill-advised this early, except that she's a really cool person and I'll be scheduling prenatal appts during work days, so I wanted to be honest)
some random woman (I was at her house for a meeting and I was helping her move a couch until for some reason, she directly asked me -- faced with a direct question, I answered honestly)

a close friend who is is separated from her husband and troubled by pregnancy announcements, because I didn't want her to hear about it as part of a big to-do among our group of friends

My parents are coming home from a vacation tomorrow, and I'm going to tell them then, and then MIL and FIL.

All of these people (except random woman) are people who would support and comfort us if we did have to take back the good news. I just can't keep it to myself until the end of the first trimester! We waited a little longer last time, but not much.

We plan to wait until about 8-10 weeks, because DH's family dealt with a stillbirth and still has big death issues, so a mc would be a big deal for them. My parents will probably know before then. Also I will announce it to my blog, but it will be a secret from everyone else... um, I guess my mom reads my blog, so I'll have to keep her out.
