The Culture of Fabric Co-ops

A post somewhere around here lead me to "Fabric Co-op's" found on Yahoo. At first I just looked at all the pretty pictures but writing my name in a database and committing to fabric seemed too much for me- I just didn't understand the whole process. Finally, I decided to try. I put in for about 6 yards of fabric. Then I really started to watch the message boards because I didn't want to miss paying or anything else I may become negligent doing. Well, this has consumed me!!! I receive in excess of five daily digests a day and then there are databases that are being tracked just by putting what you want on the message board and not in a database. Then you really have to know all of your fabric designers to understand all the acronyms and when a "buy" will start for them. Then, there's trying to figure out how long until you actually see the fabric you committed to and paid for, then there is losing your fabric because a bolt didn't fill. Oi!:

How do you do this and stay sane? Just as I feel like I've maxed myself out on one purchase, the next one they are doing has more beautiful and desirable fabrics. Do people just dig themselves into holes?!

Anyways, I hope someone understands what I am talking about. What do you sew with all this lovely fabric???

Yes, it is difficult. About a year ago I waited from February though November to receive some bamboo for diapers I was going to make for my dd. Of course she potty trained during the wait. (I sewed diapers for ds with it much later.) I limit myself to quick turn around coops now.
