I feel like I'm doing a great job on the GD front . . . . and then I realize that the kids have been in a mellow agreeable mood. And when I'm not doing so good . . . its when the kids are truly challenging?? Maybe not - maybe it just seems that way. But when the chips are down - its so hard to maintain my best intentions! Anyone else?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Could it be the other way around? I notice with my 3 yo that if my mood is more agreeable and less controlling/provocative, he tends to do much better. When my patience is gone, he tends to do worse.

I think it's both. My DS and I affect each other. If I'm in a really good mood and am able to approach things more playfully, our day definitely goes better, regardless of how cooperative my DC is feeling. However, it's also a lot easier to be that type of mother (understanding, patient, playful, gentle), when my DS is being more cooperative! Sometimes my being patient and loving and playful can help him overcome his mood, but there are days when I finally snap after a long day of trying exceptionally hard to accommodate his bad mood. I'm not proud of those moments, but I'm human, and I find it incredibly draining on those (thankfully rare) days when DS is just in a foul mood for some reason!
