Brown spotting at about 6 weeks?

When I was pregnant with my daughter I started to spot...well, a little more ethan "spot" I had quite a bit of brown blood come out. (I filled a pantyliner every 20 minutes for almost 3 hours.) I was told to go into the ER. They tested me a gagillion times, and I was told that I was losing the baby. I was never really worried. I knew it was alright. (although it was distressing to be told by a doctor that my baby was going to die) The doctors never did anything. Sent me, home on bed rest. My daughter was fine, and nothign ever came of it.

I told my husband, that I never thought there was anything wrong, and I wondered if it would happen this pregnany. I told him that if it happened the same as last time, I would start to spot at the beginning of November.
I started to have brown blood spots this morning. I don't feel worried, but what is this? Is this normal? Should I go see a doctor? what's going on? I kinda felt that it would happen again, bu I'd like to know what it is.

I had a similar experience w/DS1, though not w/DS2. It was terrifying, I went to the hospital, etc.

When I looked back on it later in the pregnancy, though, I realized that my episodes of spotting (there were 3 or 4) all began when I would have gotten my period if I had not been pregnant. I feel strongly that my body was just not used to being pg yet and shed some uterine lining at the time it was used to doing it.

I had a hard time finding any reference to anything like this anywhere official though. But I know my body, and I'm pretty sure this is what was happening.
