I wanted to put this on here that if anyone knows of someone who is with out power and needs a warm place that isnt a hotel, welcome at my place. Its a smaller apt but its warm and has electric I know tons of places are or at least were with out power.

Stay safe and warm ladies

Hey, just checking in to see if everyone is ok. Our electricity just came on after 10 hours. It got cooooold in here. Kind of ironic since I've been so worried about the propane running out. It was filled up yesterday, I was so happy to have heat and then the darn electricity goes out... It's always something isn't it???
Same goes for us, if anyone needs a warm place to go, our door is open.

Hutch got hit pretty hard. We've been out of power since 3 am. Hanging out at dh's office all day with the kids. not so fun. It sounds like we won't get power back today.

I dunno how far from Topeka you are but if you are intrested, my home is open. Not a ton of space, but warm and cozy

We're staying with the in-laws close to KC... Our power went out at 6 this morning and our house was getting : by this afternoon. Given the number of trees and lines down, it didn't look like our power would be back on anytime soon and didn't want the kiddos to freeze. Luckily the roads were clear so we were able to get out of town ok.

What a mess! Stay safe and warm everyone!

Wow, I am sorry to all of you who are without power and/or heat. If you were closer, then you would be welcome at my home, as long as you pretend that it is nice and tidy

Wichita didn't get hit very hard at all. It is funny too, the south side of a main street where I live didn't have much ice at all, and then I dropped by a friend's house on the north side and she was totally iced, with a big flood puddle on her street that is now a giant ice slick.

Anyhow, I had no idea it was so much worse in N. Kansas. Stay warm and safe.:

Does anyone in the KC or OP area have a pair of crutches they could spare? Dh fell today at work while spreading salt. He broke his ankle and has to go Monday to see if he is going to need surgery. : Anyway, I posted to freecycle too but thought I'd check here in the off chance that someone had a pair.

Thank you freecycle. I found some.

I have not been there, but we can buy their milk at the Hy-Vee store we shop at. That is the kind of milk we've been buying since the first time we tried it. The bottle deposit is $1.50 so I make sure that the bottles get rinsed and placed in the back of my van immediately when they are emptied. A 'field trip' sounds great, when the warm weather comes back and they have another open house type thing.

We have some great goat farming mama friends out in Lecompton. They sell their non-dairy things at every Saturday farmers' market. I think they won't be milking again until early spring, but I would be overjoyed to refer you!

Oooh wait, now that I think about it, I don't believe they're certified organic or anything. If you're interested, let me know!

Thank you, I am hoping they set it Monday and no surgery.

I've been to the Shatto farm! It's really, really fun. They allow the kids to bottle feed the calves, be right there in the milking area, tour the bottling area, etc. It's a fantastic tour, and there are samples! Strangely enough, the root beer milk is quite good. We did this tour back when we were homeschooling, and it was my daughter's favorite outing.

We got power back & moved home Friday am. Now we have 6+ inches of smow to keep us snug!

Oh man, I have so much laundry to catch up with!
