Compression Medical Legwear?

So I got a prescription for compression pantyhose thingys. I have some vericose vein action and I don't want it to become uncomfortable or look worse. I called around to see who carried them and they are $140!!! Holy Cow. I learned that places sell over the counter ones but they don't "compress as much". Does anyone have any experience with these? Should I fork out the cash that will certainly be taking away from holiday presents, activities etc? I mean I am only gonna be pregnant for another couple of months... but I am concerned about the veins and I heard they feel great on and are good for an extra layer in the winter.

Any thoughts?

I don't have experience with them but I work in the disability field and know many people wear prescription grade support stockings/hose and are satisfied with them. Anecdotally, my previous boss wore support hose during her PG for varicose veins and had only good things to say about them.

I'm afraid I can't say much about whether the prescription grade or over the counter are that much different. I wonder if the pharmacist might have some insight.

Would your insurance reimburse you? (Do you have insurance?)

I have insurance but have not met my $250 dollar deductible for that sort of thing. I think I have to pay 80% and they cover 20%. Ughh, I don't know what to do.
