Procion dyes and silk velvet

Have any of you dyed silk velvet with procion dyes? I suspect it would work, but I haven't tried my hand at it. I've got a few scarves coming my way and thought I'd best do a teeny little research before jumping right it.

Thanks in advance!

It would work no problem. The plush portion of silk velvet is viscouse(rayon), which is a cellulose fabric so its ideal for procion dyes.

Ooo...you could even try devore techniques i.e. burnout. You do need an extrra chemical wh/ dissolves the cellulose it is applied to but it would be cool.

Oh, that sounds very cool--I'm going to look into it. Thanks for the idea!

I've got a client who's shipping me all sorts of stuff to dye for her--from a cotton jacket to velvet scarves, including some extras for me to experiment with. I'm so excited!

I finally wrapped up the velvet scarves and thought I'd post back--you can see them here. I'm particularly pleased with how the top one turned out--the client chose the colors in the bottom one, but for the top I sort of punted. She loved the top one so much, she's buying that one, too, rather than choosing.

Thanks for the advice!
