I really really want to get back into this - but I need a loom first {I used a school one previously}.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to make a loom cheaply or buy cheaper?

Any other mama's weave?

I don't weave but my 14yo dd does, so I've been working with her. My dd and my dh made a pipeloom, like the one in this link. They followed the directions in the book also listed, Kid's Weaving, but there are directions online for similar looms if you google. The loom is a good size and cost about $20 to make. HTH!

I got a loom that was equivalent to one that would have cost aroung $700 new for about $70 (including shipping) off ebay. I think I did so well b/c the guy listing it didn't know looms, most of his other items were antiques, so he didn't include info that weavers want to know. It was also an older brand from england, which he misspelled in his listing, and not a familiar one.

What kind of loom do you want? Some are easy to make. I'm currently making a warping board to go with my loom.

I'm wanting a big floor loom {something like this , or maybe this }- something I can weave large rugs/carpets on if I want to {which actually is something I'm thinking of doing}

I've worked with looms that size, but only in passing, so I'm not super familar with them {just know that I love them and have always wanted to weave on something like that ever since I 1st wove at age 10 in the Girl Scouts.}

Try this site, look for looms in your area. Try to spend $500 or less (so you can resell easily) http://www.kbbspin.org/
Loom prices are much cheaper in the spring and summer, more expensive in the fall "nesting" season.:

Those aren't the kind I was thinking of as easy to make. The first one looks a bit small for rugs, but a lot easier to find a place for in your home.
