What is the worst gift....

you have gotten? I feel bad even asking that but it maybe it will give us a laugh. I appreciate every single thing I have gotten but come on... I know we have all gotten some stuff from people who don't "know" us.

I got a carousel glitter lightswitch cover with a matching carousel glitter outlet cover today.

For our wedding, while I am at it, we got a set of resin glitter bobblehead dolls that were a boy and girl frolicking in the grass.

OK, who's next? Fess up!

I can't think of any super-goofy baby presents, but one Christmas we got this truly bizarre cookie jar from my FIL that looks like a chicken head. We're all sort of afraid if it. We decided that he must have done his shopping late at night after one too many G&Ts.

We got a Care Bear with a musical tab to pull. I know some people might like that, and I'm very happy for them, but I thought Care Bears were lame the first time around. When I returned it the woman at the store was astonished that I would be returning something that cute. But she was about 10 years younger than me.

We also have gotten a fair bit of baby medicine, which is, I think, kind of weird.

I didn't even know the care bears were still around! Wow. I am out of the loop. I don't even know where to return these outlet cover things.. looks like they may go to consignment. I suspect they were from the dollar store...

I kind of figured the young woman at the store didn't know they were this cheesy 80s thing. Perhaps if I didn't know that, I would have thought it was cute too.

I haven't gotten anything bad (yet). But we did get something funny--my cousin gave us safety goggles and latex gloves for diaper changing.

"No one" has given me anything as an outright GIFT for the baby and certainly nothing awful. The worst was plastic rattles and pacifiers from mom.

I have received a couple of nice things from our DDC mamas and a couple of new things from a friend and mom, but that's it.

I think my early years with my hubby were the worst gift times. He gave me a Zip Drive for our first Valentines or my birthday or something.

Funny, had I known this thread exsisted I would have just posted here instead of starting a new thread...

4 tubs of this http://www.buttpaste.com/

No one has given me anything this time, but someone gave me a mini diaper bag with Pooh on it. I absolutely loathe Pooh... now, classic Pooh is another story.

Unfortunately, finances were so tight that I used that stupid little bag for months. It was all plasticy and looked like something a little kid would wear. It was for ME!!!! I don't wear that kind of thing!

I saw that at the drug store today and wondered what it was. Um... is it for you or the baby? Well, either way, it is an odd gift!

ETA: GREAT NEWS! They have a bobblehead doll on their site that is for sale! And a buttpaste baseball hat... OMG. You could do ALL your holiday shopping there!

I must have gotten the matching full size one from my cousin for DS, I hated it so bad I used the free formula company one from the hospital instead and felt guilty for advertising formula-but at least it was black and not mint green!

UGH- I have seen some HORRENDOUS diaper bags. The plasticky ones that are all shiny and covered in that clear stuff so they are washable.. ick. Although DH and I have matching black LL Bean ones (not intentionally- they were hand-me-downs) and I would really love a hoohobbers one...

you guys can't top mine, i bet. all of my friends keep bringing this up because it's so weird.

3 months ago, my sister-in-law (my partner's brother's wife) told me off-hand that she had some of her son's nursery furniture left over, so she would send it to us, because it was "really nice" and unisex. i politely turned her down, saying that we're cosleeping and the baby's room was OUR room, and there wasn't any room. and then i promptly forgot about it.

then a few weeks later, we get an oddly shaped package in the mail. we open it and there's no note. so we started unwrapping everything, but it isn't until everything is completely unwrapped that we can tell what it is.

she sent us: a wooden laundry hamper, a matching tissue box cover, and a child-size coatrack.

???

and they were SO UGLY. SO! SO! SO! UGLY!

we were totally baffled, but we posted on craigslist "free nursery accessories!" and then left them on our lawn and they were gone within the hour.

Someone once told me there is a market for everything... it amazes me what disappears from our lawn on occasion. My neighbor across the street put a nasty old toilet out in his front yard with a free sign on it and it was gone that day. Amazing.

I feel bad getting rid of things that are not "us" but I will be damned if I am going to store it for years!!!!

One year for Christmas someone sent us a tub of cheese with bacon that should have been kept in the fridge (we are vegetarian), a box of magic erasers, and a can of soup.

I am not even kidding! It REALLY happened. And it was all mailed a good 800 miles.
