Imse Vimse style contour?

I have a couple contours in our stash and these are by far my favorite. I am wondering about making some myself.

What kind of fabric should I use? How many layers that sort of stuff. I like them because they dry really fast, fit really well and I know I can use them for DD and a newborn.

I was thinking terry for the outer part to snappi, lined with t-shirt or flannel. And maybe some really soft bamboo velour for the flip-up soaker part. Do you think that could work?

Also I don't want to mess with binding and was just going to serge the edges?

Sorry for all the questions. I don't have much experience sewing diapers. Simple smock tops for DD and pants is about it.

I don't know what the contours you are talking about look like, but there is a good tutorial for making contours with elastic here: http://diaperfabric.com/diaper-sewing-tutorials/ Maybe that will help you get started. You can probably just trace around one of the contours you have to get a pattern. I think the fabric you are thinking of using sounds great! You probably want about 4-6 layers of absorbent material {flannel or t-shirt} or 3-4 of the terry as the soaker in addition to your inner and outer layer. Most of the time I sort of guesstimate by thickness if there are enough layers in the soaker.
