Uterine prolapse?

I'm pretty sure something is 'prolapsing', whether it's my uterus, or my vaginal walls collapsing or what, I don't know. My mw has put me on bedrest and will come as soon as she can to check me.

I am 2 wks pp with my fifth. I had a quick, 3hr, labor w/an almost violent pushing stage. I felt 'wrong' for at least a week afterwards. I felt like I was 1 day pp at 8 days pp, yk? I had just started to feel normal!

I may have been overdoing it but I was trying to take it easy!

Any suggestions?

Is it a cystocele or rectocele you think? Have you looked with a mirror? If so, what do you see?

I think it's cystocele.

It is better after a day of bedrest but it's still a little scarey.

It will probably improve as you recover from giving birth. In the meantime, take it easy and get as much rest as you can - limited lifting, no straining, etc. Prolapse sounds very scary, but it's a lot more common than people think. I'm 3 months pp and I have a cystocele and mild prolapsed uterus - I don't have any symptoms, but my cervix is a lot higher than it was even at 5 weeks pp. I just stay mindful of what I do, how much I lift, and how my activities affect the position of my pelvic organs. The whole woman website has a lot of info on prolapse.

Congratulations on your newest little one!

Thanks for the link. I'll go check it out today.

My mom had a horrible experience w/a prolapsed ute when I was a teenager and it lead to a hysterectomy. I think that is why I was so freaked out. That was also after five kids, though I'm the youngest so it was a while in coming, I guess.

That is why she is so particular about what we do/don't do during the pp recovery period. She left after one week though and life does go on. I thought I was taking it easy but apparently not easy enough.

I'll just keep resting and 'kegeling' and see what happens.

I do wonder how this will affect my reproductive future...
