Thriller/Horror/Spooky Novels & Stories

Anyone else into these? I have read a lot of Stephen King - too much for me to list right now. My fave Stephen King novel by far is Salem's Lot. A vampire story I've read more recently is Twilight by Stephanie Myer. I am about to read Dracula - actually DH and I are going to read it together (we checked out two copies at the local library). I've never read it, surprisingly, though I did read the original Frankenstein a long time ago.

Another fave author of mine is Edgar Allan Poe. I haven't read all of his stuff, but I really want to buy his complete collection. I have read The Masque of the Red Death, A Casque of Amontillado, The Raven, Anabelle Lee, and more of his writings that I can't recall at the moment.

I also adore Shakespeare, and while many people wouldn't think of him as a "spooky" writer (they always equate his writings with love b/c of Romeo & Juliet and his sonnets), if you've read enough of his tragedies you realize that they are pretty creepy too - especially MacBeth, Hamlet, Henry IV, etc. Even Romeo & Juliet has a lot of death in it, though.

So, share what you've read & offer up suggestions for others!

Well, I've read everything Stephen King has published. Almost everything Dean Koontz has as well. My fave of Steve's books are def. the Dark Tower series. I read the whole thing in less than a week.
My fave of Dean's books is Intensity.
My favorite book of all time is Clive Barkers Imajica. A couple of my faves of his are The Great and Secret Show and Everville.
For true crime, my favorite book is called The Perfect Victim, but I can't remember the authors name.
A couple of my favorite authors in the Thriller genre are Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell and Kay Hooper. I love the Scarpetta series.

I also really love the Scarpetta (Patricia Cornwell) novels...currently reading her newest one now.

Another great thriller author would be Jonathan Kellerman. The Alex Delaware books are awesome.

Kay Hooper, especially the Bishop series, is great. James Patterson, particularly the Women's Murder Club and the Lake House series, are good. Lisa Jackson is also a great thriller writer.

For a more "classic" author of creepiness, try out Franz Kafka. "In the Penal Colony" is still emblazed in my head.

I adore Stephen King....just reread the Skeleton Crew to get ready for the release of The Mist soon....

Charlaine Harris has a good vampire series that I love...Southern Vampire....she also has one about a psychic who talks to the dead, but I haven't really read those yet.

I admit, my current guilty pleasure books are anita blake or princess meredith books by Laurell Hamilton....not really scary, but loads of fun to read
