Dollhouse ideas?

I am looking for a dollhouse for my almost 3 year old DD. I know this is taboo here, but I am considering plastic because the wooden ones are so expensive (especially when all the extra pieces get added in) and I am really not that opposed to plastic anyways.

I found one called the Fisher Price Loving Family Sweet Sounds, but it has been discontinued. There is one on EBay right now with a ton of pieces for a great price. I am thinking of getting it but wanted to see if anyone here has it or any other ideas for inexpensive dollhouses that come with a lot of pieces.

My dd(3) is getting a PlayMobil dollhouse for Christmas. They are a safe plastic company.

my dd was almost 3 at xmas last year and we got her the Loving Family Twin Time dollhouse, and it's been well used and well loved. it has twin babies, a mom and dad, and you can buy other sets to go with like the grandma, kitchen sets, playroom etc.

A lot of the Tuesday Mornings have been carrying this Ryan's Room dollhouse for $50. http://www.allchildrensfurniture.com...d=FR43-SWT1002

It is wood (and I have no clue where it is made) It comes with some furniture (not all) and no dolls.

I have also heard great things about the playmobil dollhouses and the Loving Family dollhouses mentioned above.

It 's very basic but I think this is a cool idea for a dollhouse. My daughter has always used a set of cardboard nesting blocks as stables for her animal figurines. It's not their 'intended' use but she'll stack them up into 'highrise' stables and place them in circles to make a barnyard.

I love how kids think.

For plastic, I would go with Playmobil. For wood, Ryan's Room. I actually got a Ryan's Room dollhouse marked down to 50% off simply because the box was opened and kinda smooshed on one side. It was the only box left. I made sure to take a look at the contents to make sure it was all in one piece.
(So, if you find a crushed box, be sure to ask if you can get a discount!)

You might like the toys at www.Moolka.com, some of the doll houses are around the $150 price, but they include all of the furniture.

Ooh, THIS looks like fun! I love how it can be taken apart and stored away.

My mom got my daughter the Fisher Price Loving Family Sweet Sounds one a couple of years ago for Christmas. The furniture can be hard to find and expensive, so I don't know how much savings there is. And the sounds thing is a gimmick and my daughter isn't into it - it isn't worth anything I don't think. Still, she does like it and has fun playing with it still, two years later. Nothing on it has been recalled yet, and we did find a lot of furniture at garage sales that was in really good condition - the loving family stuff has been around for quite a while so you can find stuff at garage sales at this point.

We got dd this one for her 3rd bday

We looked at FP ones but we really wanted one that would encourage imaginative play. FP stuff always seems so directed to me now. The other thing we liked is that it's expandable and could grow with her thus lasting longer

My mom and my MIL just went in together to get this one for dd for Christmas. (How cute is that they get along so well and are so uncompetitive that they bought her a joint gift? I friggin LOVE them! ) Anyway, here it is. My dd is 5.5 and this is her first dollhouse. Currently, the dollhouse family lives in the barn.

I have also heard good things about the Calico Critters animal families and houses. They are plastic, but kind of expensive. No clue where they are made.
Here is one store that has them:

I actually had to call three of the Tuesday Mornings in my city - only one had it in stock. But about a week ago I saw it at one of the other ones... So - I don't know how often their stock changes. It is pretty hit or miss there, I have found. I try to check in every couple of months just to see what I find. Or I hear about a good item on one of the boards. But occasionally I get some good stuff! Good luck with the dollhouse hunt!
