Not a Good Day

I have a question that I cannot find an internet answer to.

.................

I ate a smoked cigarette today......

YUCK. It was in a burrito at a restaurant. I bit into ashes. I immediately spit it up and threw up what I could and rinsed with water.

If some ashes did reach my tummy, is it very bad for my baby? I haven't called anyone since it doesn't seem like there is anything that could be done about it.

This was right after I was crying because I got the "twins?" question and "wow big baby" comment at a store. (Why can't people keep their mouths closed?)

So, my day has sucked so far.:

How do you feel? Nauseas? I really think you should be fine if you feel OK.

Did you get like 20 free meals from the place (not that you want to eat their food again!)?

oh gross! I'm so sorry. I wouldn't be afraid of the ashes--I'm sure it won't affect the baby at this point. I think my concern would be the threat of any disease the person who smoked the cigarette might have.
Call the board of health for sure to report the restaurant. and I'd probably talk to my midwife just to be safe.

Nope. Not nauseated. I have a tummy ache, but I think its normal uterus stuff.

All we got free was our meal and an appetizer for next time.
I was surprised we got that, since 20 years ago my mom had a fly stuck in her food and they still charged her for the bite she did take! This chain is known as a Northern Va Institution w/ crappy yet yummy food. EX: They proudly microwave all their food that comes premade.

I've been going there since birth, so I'll still go. lol I don't hold them to a very high standard.

I hadn't thought of reporting to the Health Dept. I suppose it would be the commisary where their food is made that I would report. The restaurant itself wouldn't know a cigarette had made it into a burrito unless they dug open each one...

I'm not good with complaints since this is the first time I have actually been grossed out by a restaurant. I eat hairs, bugs etc. without much thought

OMG

So sorry you experienced that. I think that you and baby are probably okay. If it were me, I would definitely call my midwife...if only for help processing the "trauma" of it.

Ugh. You must be in for a REALLY good day tomorrow, Mama!

Grace:

It was at Anita's. The New Mexican diner place. My family has been going there since it opened before I was born.

That's IT? A free meal and appetizer? Holy crap. That is.... like... just WRONG. I was at a function a few years back and one of the guests bit into a muffin that had a bandaid baked right in! :Puke I guess a cigarette is not as bad as long as no part of it had been in the person's mouth... the guest at the function I went to had to go in for hepatitis tests and stuff. And there was a big lawsuit. Never did hear the outcome though. I am sure you are fine but I am really surprised they didn't do more for you. I would write a letter to their headquarters or district manager or whomever.

I just don't feel up to a lawsuit...I'm too busy sitting around waiting for my baby to come. I don't think I actually swallowed anything and it wasn't the end that was in a mouth from what I could see before I ran to the bathroom. Dh is going to call the health department for me though and we will see what they say.
